Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: keberoxu Date: 03 Oct 18 - 02:04 PM Four newborn pups in a cardboard box and the SPCA couldn't deal? FOR SHAME, what are they there for! The loss of the dog's companionship is indeed a heavy price to pay for giving that helpless pup a chance at a full life. |

Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: olddude Date: 03 Oct 18 - 12:34 AM My favorite was when the police called my doc buddy when I drove myself to the hospital because of my heart. My doc called the police as he thought I was still home dying. The police called him and said if he is dead he is staying dead because there is a 150 lbs of snarling teeth that won’t let us into the house lol. My gus was protective but any kid could hug or kiss him however he watched my house for sure |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: olddude Date: 03 Oct 18 - 12:26 AM I have his ashes here now, next to my beloved wiener dog that i had for 17 years before he passed |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: olddude Date: 03 Oct 18 - 12:22 AM Kerb yes there was four, three went to great homes but my big gus stayed here with my weiner dogs. He was attached to me. 145 pounds of lab newfie mix. Miss him terrible and still in grief. Dogs break your heart. My daughter is the bigtime vet neuro surgeon. She called and is broken hearted also as we raised him and the others from a bottle. Some ugly person left them to die in a box. The spca didn’t have the staff to take them. We took them home. We raised them |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: Thompson Date: 02 Oct 18 - 05:43 PM Oh lordy. Galloping around those happy green pastures in a world beyond, and ready to guide you when you come there, I hope. |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: Gallus Moll Date: 01 Oct 18 - 06:08 PM It is never easy parting with your beloved dog, even tho you know it is old, perhaps suffering, and will be running freely on the other side of the rainbow bridge- - but they are still with you, in your heart, in your memory; sometimes you just miss seeing them as they follow you through the garden, or on a favourite walk - a flicker of movement at the corner of your eye- - then when you feel sad, they are with you, their unseen presence beside you, comforting you till the sadness fades and another dog has taken on their role in your life. It is so hard to part with them -- but imagine if you had never had them, never experienced their companionship, watched the enthusiasm of their play and chases, or had the privilege of them gazing at your face, laying their chin heavily upon you then leaning against you, totally relaxed and at peace. |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: keberoxu Date: 01 Oct 18 - 04:33 PM If this question is painful, I'm sorry. But wanted to get the details straight. Your Labrador Retriever, haven't you told us, was one of a litter of four. They were inside a BOX? Where was the box full of Labrador Retriever pups left?? I recall clearly that you and your daughter the vet rescued the pups. But from -- where? |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 30 Sep 18 - 03:59 PM It's so devastating when a beloved animal dies. My heart goes out to you. I know what an aching void they leave behind them when it's their time to go. Hugs... |

Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: wysiwyg Date: 30 Sep 18 - 01:59 PM (((Dan))) I pre-grieve when I can, and have often thought about the day I'll have to start seeing the end for Newbie, usually during bedtime-prep snuggle hour. I'm pretty sure I'll outlive her, and that she'll be my last dog. The pre-grieving always helps... but.... this is the one that's really MY DOG. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: ranger1 Date: 30 Sep 18 - 01:06 PM Oh, Mary! I'm sorry. Alice was always my favorite of your cats. She had a grand life with you, and made a big impression n a lot of people - usually those not bright enough to listen to your warning not to leave anything where Alice could reach it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: SINSULL Date: 30 Sep 18 - 01:00 PM So hard, Dan. Yesterday, Alice the Slut went to that great kitty litter in the sky. 18 years old and bossy to the end. Her kitten Fred (17) is walking around the house crying for her. I have so many memories of her antics over the years and nothing to regret. She was about six months old and pregnant when I rescued her off the streets. Not a bad life for a NYC street cat. "Don't you remember Sweet Alice, Ben Bolt? Sweet Alice with long curly tail..." Her song |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: Senoufou Date: 30 Sep 18 - 12:10 PM I'm so very sorry Dan. It does indeed break your heart. I have sobbed my heart out so many times at losing an adored cat. I've found that concentrating on all the happy times, funny little ways, the good life the pet had at your side and the absolutely correct way you cared for him/her all helps to soften the pain. But the missing seems endless nevertheless. A big hug to you... Eliza x |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: ranger1 Date: 30 Sep 18 - 11:46 AM So sorry, Dan. The emptiness they leave behind is so much bigger than the physical space they took up. |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: olddude Date: 30 Sep 18 - 11:42 AM For sure stilly. I have my wiener dogs still and I love them to pieces but I will miss my big bear dog. |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: Stilly River Sage Date: 30 Sep 18 - 10:44 AM They do. I lost my pit bull last December to cancer; I had her for more than a dozen years. We didn't have it diagnosed or treated (chemo) because she had already outlived her life expectancy and I didn't want her to deal with side-effects from the treatment, but we kept her comfortable, and when that time passed we all went for one last walk, then a tearful trip to the vet. You miss those big bundles of unconditional love. |
Subject: RE: BS: Said goodbye to my big dog From: olddude Date: 30 Sep 18 - 10:39 AM Bottle fed him as a puppy. Cancer took him. He was doing so good but he died quietly. They break your heart |
