Hi, Carol - I had to change your thread title so people could figure out what you need. Is it Luke or Luther Stanley?

If there is a folk connection then follow the musician sessions towards the bottom of the link. There is a monthly session in Barton and an email contact. It may be a possibility.

There is a 1953 photograph of Luke Stanley, taken by Peter Kennedy in 1953, on the BBC folk archive page. Luke was a singer and also performed in the local Plough Jags.

Hi I am Luke Stanley's grandaughter. My mother Mary was Luke's eldest daughter. He was born Luther but was always known as Luke . Bill was Luke's eldest son . Grandad was born in 1891 near Binbrook , and moved with his brother as a teenager to North Lincolnshire. He worked as a farm labourer all his life , spoke with a very broad Lincolnshie dialect , and sang very traditional folk songs and played an arcordian. He played the arcordian and took the part of the hobbyhorse in the village plough jags players . He lived all his married life in Barrow on Humber (not Barton) .
Bill his son belonged the plough jags too , as 'musical Jack'. Bill could sing, and yodel, and played a piano arcordian. He lived in Barton after he married .

Hi Jim,
I know this is a long shot as this post is a few years old now but for some reason I didn't see the rest of the comments.

If you still have them I would be very interested in listening to those recordings.

If yoy would like you can email me at folklincs2019@gmail.com if you get this
many Thanks,
Carol

Hi Carol
Putting 2 and 2 together you must be the Carol, a friend of Ruaridh, who I met at Paul & Liz's presentation. Jim unfortunately is no longer active on Mudcat. I'll email you his email address.

Can't find a list of Luke's songs recorded on either site posted above. The Kennedy recordings seem to be limited to the Ploughjags play. Can anyone please post a list of Luke's songs?
