Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 21 Jan 20 - 04:33 PM This dog is second-to-none when it comes to cuddling - she can take a nap at the drop of a hat. If I lie down on the sofa, she flings herself on top of me and is almost snoring before her head touches down. She (Cookie) is absolutely charming when she is sound asleep. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: keberoxu Date: 21 Jan 20 - 12:28 PM Is there some way that the 35-pound asshole with destructive teeth could visit Mrrzy? They might be good for each other. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 20 Jan 20 - 12:59 PM I suspect the recovery ward allows dogs to visit, which is a good thing, but one of my three dogs probably needs to be constantly petted and passed from person to person (the rest of you, in other words) to keep her distracted from any equipment to do with my recovery that she might decide to chew on. Sweet as she can be, I swear, that dog is mostly an asshole with teeth. 35 pounds of destructive teeth, and an eye for any changes in the room to zero in on (and destroy, if possible.) You wouldn't believe the stuff she has dragged out through the dog door. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: keberoxu Date: 20 Jan 20 - 10:06 AM Have a thought for our Mrrzy, who is Beyond Bunny presently. And for heaven's sake, keep Nurse Ratched away. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: Donuel Date: 16 Jan 20 - 03:21 PM Based on Stillys activity level wearing out a self healing organic knee means that a synthetic knee will be challenged. Choose a tough one when the time comes. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 and From: Donuel Date: 14 Jan 20 - 02:57 PM The knee is easier than the hip to do, bears less stress or complication and feels surprisingly normal after PT. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: Senoufou Date: 14 Jan 20 - 03:52 AM Stilly River Sage, just to reassure you a bit, a dear friend had BOTH knee joints replaced simultaneously (most unusual, as they normally do one at a time) She found it slightly painful afterwards while the 'work' was healing, but nothing too unbearable. The physio encouraged her to flex and move the knees as soon as she could, to prevent adhesions. After she was discharged from hospital, I went to her house and stayed for a few nights to help her get to the loo etc, as she had no family for support, and I was quite surprised at how soon she was getting about. Now she never shuts up about how great it is to be able to whizz around pain-free, and tells everyone never to fear the op. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019-2020 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 12 Jan 20 - 10:39 AM Planning ahead for my own Mudcat Recovery Ward annex. I just finished reading the booklet to do with knee replacement surgery. I'll tell you, wearing out your joints isn't something to do lightly, when they're replaced the recovery period sounds like it was designed with Nurse Ratched in mind. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: keberoxu Date: 10 Jan 20 - 06:56 PM Mud season comes early this year -- we have wicked high temperatures for the next few days. Which poses hazards of its own. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: keberoxu Date: 08 Jan 20 - 12:39 PM I just encountered an acquaintance entering the fast-food restaurant with a walker. Turned out she was recovering from a fractured pelvis, yikes! |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: Severn Date: 31 Dec 19 - 11:20 PM Keberoxu, I would think you would find it re-warding.. Stilly, I guess The Wordy Shipmates couldn't be written by somebody of Welsh descent because there was one to many Vowells involved, even if there's one too many consonants in Vowell..... I won't bother with the NYC celebratu. I have seen too many balls dropped watching the Washington Redskins of late.... Better luck next year fo!ks, waking up in anew thread trying to figure how you got your old bed in a new thread to there without morning coffee yet....The only thing threadening a out it would be the return of Nurse Ratched on the inside and DonLd Trump and "You Brexit, you bought it on the outside. It's a sick wor!d outside, which is why some people and I am of our number will stay and malinger here as long as the benefits hold up.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: keberoxu Date: 31 Dec 19 - 06:38 PM There are worse places to spend New Year's Eve than this. But I suppose we will have to start a Recovery Ward 2020 thread. Have a Happy Eve, everybody. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 30 Dec 19 - 02:55 PM I wonder if the Mudcat was in a ward with wardmates/ other beds. Mudcat was at sea, making all of you wardy shipmates. It's a great book by Sarah Vowell if you ever get around to reading it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: Severn Date: 29 Dec 19 - 10:01 PM This from X-Ray Tex. It looks like some of the inhabitants of the recovery room who were mobile took to walking up and down the corridors loudly caroling for Christmas, and as they went down the halls past Radiology, managed to annoy and interrupt Nurse Ratched and X-Ray Ted, who were going hard and heavy at it in room 316 and apparently our head nurse (a position for which X-Ray Ted can gladly vouch) has vowed revenge on the Ward. I don't know which Jones said of you were out singing, but the grace period where she was so busy that she left us alone apparently is now at an end. I hope the planned Ward New Years bash will Not be cancelled..... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: keberoxu Date: 28 Dec 19 - 11:27 AM Gnu has reported in. Although he is recovering, I'm not certain if he's in the Mudcate Recovery ward or if he managed to avoid the place. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: keberoxu Date: 27 Dec 19 - 07:23 PM I managed to stay out of trouble during Christmas, as was my intent, but the Mudcat Cafe itself took several days to recover, this past week. I wonder if the Mudcat was in a ward with wardmates/ other beds. Wherever the Mudcat spent those days, it wasn't where I was, because I hunted for the Mudcat that whole time and could not find it ... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: keberoxu Date: 08 Dec 19 - 02:08 PM Glad to hear Severn is walking more comfortably. Rapparee, what happened with the MRI of your right foot? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Recovery Ward 2019 From: Severn Date: 08 Dec 19 - 11:25 AM The bruised knee is getting better, I am walking longer distances and can return my borrowed cane (Mine mutinied someplace). It's one thing after another, but I am determined to outlast them all. A few months ago, I thought I had seen my armless and disarming ex therapy nurse and ex-girlfriend Inter-Venus DeMilo pass my door while I was confined to my bed. She had been walking with Aaron Boyes, one of the orderlies. Recently, I thought I'd caught another glimpse of her in the hall. Last heard from, after differences with Nurse Ratched, she had transferred across town to Our Lady Of The Inconceivable Conception. I finally ran into Aaron Boyes and he told me that who I had seen was her sister Arterielle, who was now working here in Hematology. I told him if he saw her again, to tell her to come visit me here in the ward. I haven't heard from her yet...... |
