Everybody and his kid brother knows more about this subject than I do.

Today it was announced that Rob Gronkowski,
after three Super Bowl wins with the New England Patriots,
has retired from pro [US] football
at the ripe old age of thirty years.

Of course, the Gronk has sustained
a list of injuries as long as your arm. Concussion included.

The Gronk has been described, personality-wise,
as the human equivalent of a Golden Retriever.
It's no secret that he loves a good time and a party.

I don't know if there's enough Gronk, however,
for a thread all to himself.

So, why not open up the thread to US pro football in general?
And the players who make it memorable?

Not a Patriots fan but I'm gonna miss Gronk. He's probably the best all around tight end to have played the game and, more importantly, as clutch a player as you'll ever see (witness his 4th quarter performance in this year's Super Bowl). NFL'ers who retire young tend to sit out a year and then attempt a comeback, I hope he stays out and doesn't risk further damage.

So Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are on their way to
the 2021 Super Bowl --

but they are doing so as
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, not as
New England Patriots.

You can't make this stuff up.

I am not a football fan any longer, but I do know some names...
Lou "the toe" Groza, Elroy "crazylegs" Hirch, Jim Brown, ...even O.J. Simpson-when he confined himself to football...
and some who SHOULD be legends, Art Monk, who caught many, many touchdown passes and did not bother to showboat in the end zone.

The entire Washington defensive line in the late 70s..Joe Jacoby, Jeff Bostic, Mark May, George Starke and Russ Grimm.."The Hogs"

Dick Butkis, Alex Karras... and a few more.

I used to watch when Washington was winning under Joe Gibbs, and I picked up some history.
