Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: MudGuard Date: 27 Mar 19 - 05:01 PM No, no, no! I do not want to put illumination inside my hol(e)y easter eggs. It was enough work to shoot the holes into the shells ... |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Donuel Date: 27 Mar 19 - 11:55 AM It was a valid 30 year study. However our quantum universe will not allow any absolutes. Everything has an exception. Even death and taxes. Even "No one on Earth gets off this planet alive" has exceptions. Astronauts. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: BobL Date: 27 Mar 19 - 03:33 AM There's no candle inside. Eggsactly! They forgot to leave a way to put one in! But the design cries out for it. Perhaps a micro LED would do the job. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Stilly River Sage Date: 26 Mar 19 - 06:47 PM Researchers concluded some time ago that eating cholesterol doesn't mean it elevates your body's cholesterol. You make other foods into cholesterol. Eat your eggs if you want to! |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: punkfolkrocker Date: 26 Mar 19 - 06:39 PM eggs definitely make a difference to the smell of your farts... One of my longest lasting memories of primary school morning assembly, when the vicar from the church next door was leading prayers... Someone somewhere in the hall let out an extremely deadly eggy silent killer, which came close to gassing us all... Btw.. Go to work on an egg... |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Jos Date: 26 Mar 19 - 05:50 PM Being 'bad for you' isn't always the same as 'makes you fat'. There are things that don't make you fat, but that do 'make you dead'. However, I don't think that is usually the case with eggs. I did hear of an experiment (sorry no cross-reference, but I'm pretty sure it was on a health-themed programme on BBC Radio 4) where patients who were being monitored were divided into two groups - one group ate no eggs or products containing egg, and the other group ate three eggs a day. There was no difference in the results for either group. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 26 Mar 19 - 05:21 PM How can eggs be bad for you? Snakes love eggs and I've never seen a fat snake. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: MudGuard Date: 26 Mar 19 - 04:50 PM Bob: which candle? There's no candle inside. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Steve Shaw Date: 26 Mar 19 - 02:56 PM Sack your cardiologist, Joe. Eat eggs with freedom. They don't affect your blood cholesterol and are incredibly good for you. As with everything, just eat them in moderation. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Mr Red Date: 26 Mar 19 - 04:39 AM eggcentric - eggsactly. (I said I could do worse). see here for a Pickled egg company part of a collection of unusual images from my area "Keep Stroud Weird" |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: BobL Date: 26 Mar 19 - 04:30 AM Nice work, but how do you get the candle inside? |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: MudGuard Date: 25 Mar 19 - 05:44 PM Eggs should be shot with lead shot -> result (only if you are a good marksman ;-) ) |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Doug Chadwick Date: 25 Mar 19 - 05:18 AM Cutting out eggs may help me live longer. If I can't eat eggs, then I don't want to live longer. DC |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Jos Date: 25 Mar 19 - 05:12 AM Why is it that any media or advertising pictures of boiled eggs show them in an eggcup with the top removed, and usually with a piece of bread stuck in the top, but always with the yolk spilling down the side and over the eggcup. It makes me so cross. So messy and wasteful. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Mr Red Date: 25 Mar 19 - 02:29 AM one egg a day. is une eouf for anyone but no more 3-egg omelettes for eggs ample? (I can do worse - just egg me on) BTW Geroge Burns booked the London Palladium for his 100th year tour but sadly left us 1 year short. Close but no cigar............ I'll crawl back into my shell. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Joe Offer Date: 25 Mar 19 - 12:52 AM I'm glad my cardiologist allows me one egg a day. I sure enjoy it, but no more 3-egg omelettes. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: lefthanded guitar Date: 25 Mar 19 - 12:25 AM Actually I meant to say George Burns - Groucho lived quite a while too, but it was George who lived to be 100. But then, George smoked a lot more cigars. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: lefthanded guitar Date: 25 Mar 19 - 12:17 AM I've been told by someone who is in the medical profession that this egg study is somewhat flawed. If this is the same study as mentioned above; it was really more of a questionaire than a scientific study with a control group. And a lot of these studies seem to reverse course every few years - eat eggs don't eat 'em - have more carbs than protein, oh nooooooo have more protein than carbs - coconut, no coconut, yes coconut . And have you read the latest studies on wine? Phooey, as Groucho Marx said (or may have said) : sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. And he lived to be 100, give or take a yolk or two. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: punkfolkrocker Date: 24 Mar 19 - 09:53 PM Duh.. my breakfast was mostly a hearty bowl of whole grain porridge.. of course it was - for several years of fitness training... How easy it is to forget when you become older, fatter, and slower... |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: punkfolkrocker Date: 24 Mar 19 - 09:15 PM When I trained at a serious gym, the champion body builder who ran it advised a breakfast of egg whites for protein - but never eat the yolks... I can't remember my brekkies back then *, but they certainly didn't include any part of an egg... [*Probably peanut butter on toast and fruit...???] |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: Rapparee Date: 24 Mar 19 - 08:57 PM I like eggs, except fried, deviled, hard, poached, or soft boiled. Gimme scrabbled, or an omelet. It's just a quirk. |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: gillymor Date: 24 Mar 19 - 08:26 PM Do you all love 'em as much as Edith Massey? |
Subject: RE: BS: eggs From: keberoxu Date: 24 Mar 19 - 08:18 PM I love eggs as well. If breakfast hasn't got eggs in it, then a later meal will feature eggs. Love 'em every day. |
Subject: BS: eggs From: Donuel Date: 24 Mar 19 - 07:59 PM mmmm I could eat 5 or 6 deviled eggs at a time but a 30 year study has concluded that an 8% increase in heart disease risk goes up with every half yolk you eat per day. I'm not surprised. Tempura paint is made with egg yolks and it sticks to walls after a 1,000 years. We don't need it sticking to our arterial walls. Maybe I'll cut back but there are so many great things to make with eggs. I like eggs like Homer likes donuts. |
