"The Tea Party is no more," said Rand Paul, quoted in the
Washington Examiner one month ago.

That quote is reiterated this month in the
New York Times.

There are too many contradictions in the NY Times article,
my bear-of-little-brain head is spinning slowly.

One of the quotes that comes back to haunt me,
is the group of people who made it as far as
talking to members of the US Congress.

(this is the NY Times article)

The activists told the congresspersons what their concerns were,
and the congressperson wondered why the petitioners
were not asking for money to be thrown at something.

What a pity the Tea Party is extinct! I have a dozen lovely lemon tea cakes upstairs and some wonderful teas to chose from!

But as for the original statement that the Tea Party is no more, it's true, in a way. They succeeded beyond their wildest dreams with the election of Donald Trump and the control of the Senate by Mitch O'Connell. Paul Ryan did not completely meet their criteria when he served as Speaker of the House, but he did our side a lot of harm anyhow.
So, yeah, there is no current need for the Tea Party, because it has morphed into the Party of Trump.
And for me, it's a nightmare come true.

Just when you thought you'd dodged a bullet when Sarah Palin didn't end up as VP . . .

Paul Ryan is still young.

Wonder if the arena will draw him back --
and which party he will belong to.

Hate to break it to you all but the Tea Party is alive and well, and more pernicious than ever. I'm on the local county's mail list, which curls my toes on a regular basis. The one meeting I attended undercover had a deeply revered expert presenting on all the dangers of university-bred social justice, and how to break it.

We have Mike Pence stopping a few miles away at the Mayor of Lord Trumpington's Golf Club later this week - wonder if you can recommend how he likes his tea!
