Subject: BS: Face Mask (free download) on 3D printer From: keberoxu Date: 06 Apr 20 - 07:30 PM The inventors behind this website, and its 3D file, seem to want this to go to as many people and as far as possible. So a thread of its own seems appropriate. A 3D printer is something to which I have no access where I am. Should any Mudcatter follow these links, download the file, make the product, and try it out, PLEASE let us all know, one way or another, how it worked. general website: A Mask For All download link Note that the place where you breathe, and place the filter material, is NOT in the mask front, forward towards other persons; the breathing place is vertically DOWN from the nose, at the bottom of the mask, down towards your own body. |

Subject: RE: BS: Face Mask (free download) on 3D printer From: Mr Red Date: 07 Apr 20 - 03:38 AM Wonderful idea. But it needs some open source modification to allow flexibility around the face, to make it comfortable and seal to anyone's face. It will happen I am sure. Maybe some form of rubber piping that squashes. And regular washing with soap/alcohol. There are plenty of alternatives, not all with the filter downwards. alternative design 1 another alternative, rubber edging here a load more search results here |

Subject: RE: BS: Face Mask (free download) on 3D printer From: Doug Chadwick Date: 07 Apr 20 - 08:49 AM How many people have access to a 3D printer in normal times? Not many, I would guess. How many of those still have access while in lockdown? Once you have printed off your mask, where do you get the filter material from? DC |

A mask at least as effective (if not more so) and much more comfortable to wear can be made with cloth, needle & thread. |
