Anniversary thread. Surprised, even shocked, no such thread already existed. Maybe it's a spelling thing.
Anyway, I heard this mentioned in the context of what is happening to the US, on NPR this morning. Who would be Tank Man then?

Tiananmen Square was yet another example of 'Man's inhumanity to Man'.
I can never imagine how any human being could cold-bloodedly mow down, shoot, gas, kneel-on-the-neck of any living creature, human or otherwise.
Complete lack of empathy, and bordering on the psychopathic.
Where is the pity? Or the moral conscience? Or fellow-feeling?
It makes me despair Mrrzy.

So far the morning news shows haven't made mention of Tiananmen Square that I've observed and with trump's attempt to turn our military into his own political army on Monday we desperately need to be reminded of what happened there because there's no telling what this outlaw president will attempt next. He still has active duty troops in the D.C. area brought in for his cowardly display of "power".

As was Kent State, Orgreave and Bloody Sunday - and those are just Home events that happened within the legal jurisdictions of the perpetrators; go further afield and these atrocities are multiplied enormously

Agreed gillymor. Many dictators/presidents/world leaders have acted out their evil ideas, but only with the acquiescence of the majority in their nations.
Hitler couldn't have 'achieved' the Holocaust without the wholehearted approval of the non-Jewish Germans at the time.
The Chinese Communist regime condoned mowing down recalcitrant students with tanks, and most Chinese thought it well-deserved no doubt.
I just wonder how many Americans secretly applaud Trump's racist attitudes and the appalling actions against black Americans by white Police?
Those who silently and inactively observe are in effect condoning.

Nope. Trump is rapidly losing the GOP support, according to a poll I heard reported on yesterday. Only about 1/3 of their group support how he's handling all of the riot-related stuff.
