I see you spelled it half Republic, half Six Counties, Dick. :-)

I spent half the lockdown with a really severe case of cellulitis, which still hasn't completely cleared up. If only I'd known what it was and taken action days earlier...

Oh, Steve, how nasty. Cellulitis is a tricky thing; by the time it can be diagnosed with certainly, it’s usually very serious indeed, and then the cause (source) has to be identified and removed.

I developed cellulitis when a bit of suture that was supposed to dissolve didn’t, and I ended up in hospital with a foot the size and shape of a rugby ball. They isolated me — wound infections are horribly contagious — and for a week I had nothing to read, and nothing to do but ache, worry, and listen for the clog alarm on a drainage pump in the room next door, which was apparently rigged on an unconscious patient.

I have spent the lockdown working at the job I would have been doing anyway, which is editing a book about the war in Afghanistan. My husband, a criminal lawyer, is writing academic papers and studying because the courts are closed (although God knows crime isn’t).

Primarily I sought to not become infected with Covid. No toothaches or infections I could not fight off or complications from surgury. I have learned a few tunes and prepared canvas for painting and assemble a photo mural. The other hobby regarding writing made some new meager new ideas. Lots of parody lyrics and dishes but no marked accomplishments.

My right calf swelled to four times the size of the other and I had severe blistering. My blood infection markers went very high too. I spent a night in A&E, whisked off by ambulance car after a febrile day. Sepsis was on the threat agenda but the IV antibiotics saw to that. They didn't want to admit me due to Coronavirus (I was happy with that) so I had to make several trips back for my daily dose, sporting a cannula in my hand for days. That was six weeks ago. My leg is still twice the size of the other, I have all new skin, my shoes are awkward to fit but I'm well on the mend now. Five weeks on high dosages of antibiotics play havoc with the ould gut flora, I can tell you... The annoying thing was being told that it's both common and serious. But I'd never even heard of it, didn't know what was up and didn't consult a doctor for four or five days. I do think that people should know about it, especially, er, we of a certain age...

I used my history of woodworking to tackle repairing a window over a bathtub! Yes, it had a shower, which, having been used by my son for over 20 years with very little attention from me, had the sill nearest the shower rotting from loss of paint and water splashes. (Does anyone else ever remember a window in a shower?)

I could have spent $300 or more having an 'expert' take the entire thing apart and replace everything, but I am cheap.... so I then intended to just pry out the old window sill and hope lumber yards could still match the 60 years old basic size. Then Winter intruded, and as it warmed up in March, COVID intruded.... so I cut a 3" piece of the sill out and looked for some wood I might used to make a vaguely reasonable replacement. There was some Maple... but sheesh! Way too hard to work. Then I discovered a length of Teak I'd had for 20 years that was salvaged from surplus after some Indonesian fishermen spent 2 weeks building 2/3 of a Teak fishing boat for the Smithsonian Folk Festival....

Eureka! It was long enough by almost 1/4 "...and water resistant. I'll spare you several paragraphs about myriad cuts on the table saw, grinding an old scraper blade to the right contour, scraping away the saw cuts and sanding it forever. Anyway, I now have a Teak window sill ready to install... after I finish replacing half of the external base of the window frame which had also rotted at the same end.
I suppose I have 10-12 hours of mumbling and cussing in it so far..over 3-4 weeks. But the only cost was for some paint and caulk... and it kept me away from cheap bars during the lockdown............ of course, I didn't go to them BEFORE..

If the last steps go ok, I'm gonna be way too smug.....

1. I had a fusion of the joint where you think the last joint of your thumb is -- 2 weeks in a splint and 4 in a cast, then rehab.

2. We successfully appealed out property assessment to the State Tax board (2019 tax year) and it's the same value for this year according to state law.

3. 2, above, pissed off the county auditor and we've settled THAT in our favor.

4. I haven't caught a SARS-COV2 yet and want to stay that way.

Discovered Zoom, learned how to work it. So much better than Skype. Spent far too much time on it when I should have been doing that major house de-clutter 33 years in the same house = piles of junk: not all mine but we're both hoarders!

Washed the dishes. If there's a second wave, I might make the bed.

Well then BWL good luck with the bed thing. A 2nd wave is guaranteed at which point I will vacuum. The floor bears evidence of life like an archeological dig at Pompeo.

Ha-ha Donuel!

Commiserations and swift recovery to those needing health care.

The one I liked was a cartoon someone posted on Facebook:
Teacher to kids returning to school after lockdown:
"Well what did you learn during lockdown?"
Pupil 1: Mum's an alcoholic.
Pupil 2: Dad's hopeless at DIY
Pupil 3: How to string squares of newspaper together and put them in the toilet.

Any other suggestions?

I have been studiously ignoring the list of jobs I compiled at the start of lockdown, and at the moment I am a bundle of boundless lethargy.
