Ever notice how an agenda of equality is so divisive?
It is probably due to an assumption some feel more equal than others.
In the next 100 days, candidates will pull out all the stops on the opinion changing organ of all media platforms, I don't think minds will be changed - boggled maybe - but not changed.

Too bad all that money won't be spent to help the pandemic.
Biden is less popular than Tom Hanks and Trump is more popular than Putin. When combined with lieing, cheating and stealing the outcome of the election is called into question.

We all have an opinion as to what the issues are or should be but the next hundred days of actions and reactions is probably best chronicled in one thread title.

This is the time of year to crank up the Google advanced image search and watch for all of the identically-faced Clones - Twitter and Facebook - sleeper accounts that suddenly come alive. Though they may have learned not to make that mistake again this year.

My guess is that Election Day
will result in a beginning, not a conclusion.
By which I mean, nothing will be resolved,
there will be controversy if not worse,
and it may be another month
before questions are answered and matters are settled.

It would be nice if Election Day results
were tallied and settled as normal.
But somehow, I think this election
will be anything BUT normal.

'eschaton' - the end of the world

(I used to confuse the word 'eschatology' with 'scatology', which is rather different.)

Before global warming devestation or other disasters the next imminent threat in my imagined future is AI. The reason for its 'being' is and will be making more money. It will be ignorant of other more pressing concerns and human needs be they known or unknown. It is not just my imagined future but Orwell's and others.

Getting bullied by a Trump will seem as amateur as a game show compared to and because of the power of AI and will take over as a result of a Trump. Thats real irony and not artificial. It already knows you. Its already in Health care, education, justice, retail, politics and is so pervasive the next step will be surprisingly sudden.

Terminater comes to mind and makes this warning sound silly and impossible. Some say China will win the AI take over.

Trump has had nothing to do with the John Lewis tributes and isn't present at the funeral (underway as I type). Three presidents are there, but not Trump. And I predict that future gatherings such as this he simply will not be included. He's that bad idea that is hopefully soon forgotten, but he did so much damage to the federal government and the judiciary, to say nothing of the marketplace and immigrants, that it will take a long time to clean up after him.

One wonders if the coronavirus will eventually make it way into his sphere and put us all out of our misery. He's so belligerent that he has it coming.

96 days.

We were talking the other day that it is never funny when a person becomes infected with Covid 19...
except for Trump which would be hilarious.

Republican Senator Gohmert, mask avoider and former Mayberry resident, said he got Covid because he wore a mask at yesterday's Barr hearing.

How long will Trump judge that all elections be postponed?
Stable genius works in mysterious ways. Gird yourself the scariest rumors because they are coming.

Herman Cain just died from Covid-19
He attended that "huge" Trump rally, with a normal temperature and no mask, a couple of weeks ago. I think it's only a matter of time.

The scariest thing is that Trump will do almost anything to avoid losing, and it's a little worse than doubtful whether Senate Republicans would hold the USA, and the Constitution, higher than his wants.

Delaying the election would require a law passed by both houses of congress so it ain't gonna happen but that doesn't mean twit won't try.

It occurs to me that twit, in questioning the integrity of the election, might be discouraging some of his brain-dead followers from going to the polls while motivating rational folks to get out and unelect this rabid dog.

"Paper tiger" is a literal English translation of the Chinese phrase zhilaohu (???/???). The term refers to something or someone that claims or appears to be powerful or threatening, but is actually ineffectual and unable to withstand challenge. Trump is a toilet paper tiger who can still be a pain in the ass.

Early voting by mail begins in September in many states.
When you get your request form indicate yes you want a voting form.
Once you send that back you will get a ballott to fill out to send back!

Vote in early October or you may not get counted.

Procrastinate and you could regret it.

I just voted by mail today in Alaska's primary election. A few weeks ago I contacted our local Division of Elections and requested an Absentee Ballot Application which they immediately sent to me. Our Primary is not until mid-August but today I voted, had my signature witnessed by another person, slapped a stamp on and sent it off. Easy peasy.

By the way, the Turnip is wrong (surprise!) when he differentiates between absentee ballots and mail-in ballots. They are the same thing, handled the same way.I used to work at State of Alaska Elections and was very impressed with the meticulous, precise, ritualistic way ballots were handled

Toilet paper tiger! Good one!

"Immenantize the eschaton" is from The Illuminatus! Trilogy, the best conspiracy theory book around. Philistines. Means bring the end of the world closer. And links John Dillinger's penis, among other things, to JFK's assassination, inter alia. Long, long book, worth reading a few times, each time "getting" more of it.

93 days now.

Is "Immenantize" a typo? Should it be "Imminentize" - to make it about to happen, and so, closer in time? Or might it be "Immanentize" - to make it all-pervading, and so physically closer?

I haven't voted. Trump has appointed a new head of the postal service who is rolling back work hours and banned overtime. The census is planned to be reduced the time to take the census by a third which may effect representation. Absentee ballots are identical to mail in voting but Trump says they are 2 different things incorrectly.

In that case it probably should be 'immanentize' - to make something 'immanent'.
Could it be that 'The Illuminatus! Trilogy' contains the typo?

But he learned nothing, and has as little empathy as before. Perhaps less.

A day or two ago it was reported that Trump cancelled the celebration party at his Washington, D.C. hotel (the historic Post Office building that he leased - ironic). Clearly he doesn't want to spend money when he sees the projections that he'll lose. Should he win, he'll violate the Hatch Act and celebrate at the White House, while we all contemplate moving overseas.

You know where I was at this time four years ago?
Right here, that's where, at the Mudcat,
watching the threads below the music section.
And I recall the posts of anticipation
of having the first woman President ...

and the weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth
that followed the election results.

No matter what happens this year,
it won't be like last time.

... and one of the ways that this time won't be like four years ago,
is that it's going to take heaven knows how long
before everyone knows, and agrees, on a final vote tally.
Election Day is only the beginning,
the end is quite a ways off yet.
