I used to listen on-line to The British Library’s extensive collections of folksong but I can’t do this any longer. Links which previously gave access may take me to the site but the recordings won’t give out any sounds.Does anyone know if the British Library has decided to make their recordings unavailable to on-line visitors?

I'm using a Mac. I get the same problem using Google Chrome, but it works fine using Safari. No idea why it makes a difference!

No, it still says they're available to everyone, which is the point of the collection.
I'm using Chrome on my laptop and it's working fine. I did have this problem on another device a while ago though.
Try another browser/ device?

Perhaps your saved links have been altered?

Ah, it sounds like the links you previously saved may have been disabled, Geoff.

From https://sounds.bl.uk/:

British Library Sounds
Listen to a selection from the British Library’s extensive collections of unique sound recordings, which come from all over the world and cover the entire range of recorded sound: music, drama and literature, oral history, wildlife and environmental sounds.

We are delighted to announce that in 2020 we will begin adding the recordings available here to a completely redesigned website which will include many additional recordings.
In anticipation of the change, this site’s notes, tags, favourites, playlists and embedding features have been disabled.

Nick Dow contacted them,
posted this on another thread a couple of weeks back

"There is a known issue with playing our sounds using Microsoft Edge and Chrome. If possible please try a different browser (e.g. Firefox, Safari)."

I had a problem with playing files on the Sound Archive site a few weeks ago. Trying different browsers didn't work for me but white-listing the site in my adblocker did. Maybe that would work for others too.
