Subject: Lyr Add: Have You Ever Met The One (Baxter-Stamps)
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 11:03 AM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Faith 969 and When I Get Home, LFLP 19

HAVE YOU EVER MET THE ONE
(Baxter-Stamps)

Do you travel all alone through this old world of sorrow
Knowing not what the future may hold
If the Lord should call for you ere another tomorrow
Tell me how would it be with your soul

CHORUS
Have you ever met the one who walked upon the water
And stilled the wild and raging sea?
Have you ever met the one who blessed the little children
And placed them gently on His knee?
He made the lame to walk, He made the dumb to talk
And He will be a friend to you
If only you'll believe, His precious Word receive
I'm sure you'll love Him too

Won't you come Him today, have your sins all forgiven
He is waiting to pardon your soul
When your earthly race is run, you can there enter Heaven
There to live while the ages shall roll

CHORUS

Subject: Lyr Add: I'll Be Gone (Ledford-S. McGinnis)
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 11:30 AM

After some quick searching, this song seems to have become fairly widespread. Evangelist Rev. Earl Hughes (1927-2012, McCaysville, TN) picked up the song, and there's even a spirited recording of him singing it online. There's a fun modern version by Walt Mills (though Mills credits M. M. Conrad and Leona Conrad, so I can't claim with total certainty this is a Ledford original).

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Faith 969

I'LL BE GONE
(Ledford-S. McGinnis)

When this world begins to rocks, infidels and sceptics mock
There's a time and awful anguish coming on
Oh, what groans and bitter pain when the antichrist shall reign
When the tribulation nears I'll be gone

When the earth quakes everywhere and this world is in despair
There I'll pestilences and famine all around
Christ is coming soon to claim all who suffer for His name
When the tribulation nears I'll be gone

I'll be gone (I'll be gone), yes I'll be gone (yes I'll be gone)
When the tribulation enters I'll be gone
Soon the trumpet loud shall sound, with a shout I'll leave the ground
When the tribulation enters I'll be gone

When the antichrist shall reign, all must have his mark or name
For without it you can neither sell nor buy
Marvelous wonders He will do, call down fire from Heaven, too
It is either worship Him or you must die

Foolish virgins then will find they have here been left behind
With their empty vessels and their lamps so dim
They awoke themselves to try, for their lamps some oil to buy
But the bridegroom comes and we have gone with Him

But we'll be back (But we'll be back), yes we'll be back (yes we'll be back)
When the tribulation's over we'll be back
We may go most any day, but we're coming back to stay
When the tribulation's over we'll be back

Subject: Lyr Add: Who Rolled The Stone Away
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 11:41 AM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Faith 969 and The Great High Mountain, LFLP 23

WHO ROLLED THE STONE AWAY

Come and listen to my story
How for sin, Christ did atone
How an angel came from Glory
And He rolled the stone away

Who rolled (rolled the stone away) the stone away (rolled the stone away)?
Who rolled (rolled the stone away) the stone away (rolled the stone away)?
The angel said, He's alive and not dead
The stone was rolled away

Mary Magdaline was weeping
When she came where Jesus lay
For she thought the Lord was sleeping
But the stone was rolled away

Who rolled (rolled the stone away) the stone away (rolled the stone away)?
Who rolled (rolled the stone away) the stone away (rolled the stone away)?
What a wonderful sight, a man robed in white
Just rolled the stone away

It was on one Sunday morning
Just about the break of day
When an angel came from glory
And rolled the stone away

Who rolled (rolled the stone away) the stone away (rolled the stone away)?
Who rolled (rolled the stone away) the stone away (rolled the stone away)?
if you still doubt, just read and find out
who rolled the stone away

Subject: Lyr Add: Little Community Church
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 12:46 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Western North Carolina Records WNC 245 and When I Get Home, LFLP 19

LITTLE COMMUNITY CHURCH

I was lost in sin so long with no one to guide my way
My soul was in darkness, had been there for many a day
In that little community church yard I heard a gospel song
I went inside to kneel and pray

CHORUS
Oh I knelt down and I prayed to my Savior
That He might hear and would accept me
And then I felt the Holy Spirit
I knew my soul was saved in Thee

In that little community church house, that's where we sing and pray
We pray to our Father to guide us on our way
All through life's long journey we'll need His helping hand
Until we reach that promised land

CHORUS

In that little community church house among my many friends
I can hear them praying for me and the preacher say "amen"
And a vision there before me, it was my Savior's face
I knew that I was saved by Grace

CHORUS

Subject: Lyr Add: Are You Too Busy To Pray
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 12:50 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Western North Carolina Records WNC 245

ARE YOU TOO BUSY TO PRAY

Are you one of God's little children
Who find they're too busy to pray?
And do you put it off until tomorrow
Or some more convenient day?

CHORUS
Oh, someday there'll be no tomorrow
So don't be too busy to pray
If someday there'll be no tomorrow
Then talk to your Maker today

Oh, come home my prodigal brother
Come home without further delay
Your blessed Father still loves you
Won't you return to the fold right now

CHORUS

His cup runneth over with sadness
To see you neglecting your soul
So don't postpone repentance
For some lesser earthly goal

CHORUS

Subject: Lyr Add: The Sunrise Is Coming
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 01:02 PM

The lyrics are close to a version printed in 1945 (Humble Hearts, song No. 63) but differs in places. That version was credited to Walter McCord.

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Western North Carolina Records WNC 245 and A Shut In's Prayer, LFLP 21.

THE SUNRISE IS COMING

God's children in a weary world is waiting
For the sunrise that surely soon shall dawn
When all the war and strife shall cease forever
And the long silenced bells of peace ring on

CHORUS
It is coming (it is coming), surely coming (surely coming)
An age that shines over gloom
The day for which our weary world is waiting
Yes, the sunrise of peace is coming soon

Then someday on a happy glad tomorrow
When the sunrise shall come and flood the soul
Then joy and peace will end our grief and sorrow
And the beauties of heaven shall unfold

CHORUS

Cheer up, though dark the stormy clouds may gather
And the rainbow of hope fades into gloom
For somewhere far above the clouds the Savior
In a glorious light is coming soon

CHORUS

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Amazing Grace, LFLP 18

I WANT TO SEE JESUS
(P.D.)

CHORUS
I want to see Jesus, want to see Jesus, look upon His face in Glory
I want to see Jesus, want to see Jesus, thank Him for His grace (His grace)
When He calls me from on high, I will answer "here am I"
I want to see Jesus, want to see Jesus some of these days

Now when this life on Earth shall end, at our throne await
When my Lord comes back again, you know I'll go that day
Enter in, I'll hear Him say "Come and go with me"
Most of all I want to see that man of Galilee

CHORUS

Now when I get to glory land I'm gonna shout and sing
Yes, when I get to glory land I'm gonna praise His name
I know I'll meet my loved ones there, glory there will be
Most of all I want to see the one who died for me

Subject: Lyr Add: Amazing Grace (Amazing Grace Story)
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 02:00 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Amazing Grace, LFLP 18

AMAZING GRACE

In one of our southern seminaries, a young man studying the Word of God was asked to define the word "grace." Now this young man had been saved by God's grace, but in his heart he felt that he just didn't have the words to explain what it meant. So he went to his father and said, "Father, tomorrow I must answer this question. Now tell me, just what is the meaning of the word 'grace'?" This father looked at his son a long time, and he said, "Son, a long time ago, down on my knees, God saved me by His grace. But truly I know only but one answer that I could give." And this is what he said:

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see

Now this young man was not quite satisfied with the answer, so naturally he turned to his mother, and said "Mother, tomorrow I must answer this question, and I'm sure you can help me. Just what is the meaning of the word 'grace'?" His mother looked at her son through tear-dimmed eyes and said, "Son, it's been many years since God saved me by His grace. And through the years He's kept me by His grace. And son, it's by His grace that I have taught you to be just what you are. But truly, I know only but one answer that I could give." And this is what she said:

Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me on

Now this young man pondered these things in his heart, and on the next day returned to class. And the professor said, "Now son, I'd like for you to stand and tell the class just what the meaning of the word 'grace' is. This young man arose to his feet and with the spirit of God in his heart and tears in his eyes, said, "Yes sir, I think I know the meaning of the word grace." And this is what he said:

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Now this old professor, of course--down through the years--he had been teaching these young men in the class about the Word of God and various truths out of the scripture. 'Course, he knew in his heart what the meaning of the word "grace" was. But today he looked over the congregation in astonishment, for a group of young men arose to their feet, and with the spirit of God in their hearts, they began to sing:

When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun

Subject: Lyr Add: Thank You For The Valley
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 02:16 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Amazing Grace, LFLP 18

THANK YOU FOR THE VALLEY

Thank you for the valley I walked through today
The darker the valley, the more I learn to pray
I found you where the lilies that bloom by the way
And I thank you for the valley I walked through today

CHORUS
Thank you for every hill I've climbed
And for every time the sun didn't shine
Thank you for every lonely night
I prayed until I knew that every thing was alright
Lord, I thank you for the valley I walked through today

Life can't be all sunshine or the flowers would die
The rivers would be deserts and barren and dry
Life can't be all blessings or there's no need to pray
So thank you for the valley I walked through today

CHORUS

From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 02:22 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Amazing Grace, LFLP 18

I'LL THANK MY LORD (FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE)

Someday I'll stand in a wonderful place
That's filled with love and marvelous grace
With the cross laid down and a victory won
I'll thank my Lord for what He has done

CHORUS
I'll thank my Lord for bearing my sorrow
When I reach that land of the unsetting sun
When I take His hand some glad tomorrow
I'll thank my Lord for what He has done

I know they'll be a great sight to behold
When the pearly gates and a mansion unfold
But I first must look on the crucified one
I'll thank my Lord for what He has done

It was for me in the garden He prayed
And it was for me the ransom was payed
When eternity has only begun
I'll thank my Lord for what He has done

From: cnd

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Amazing Grace, LFLP 18

THE RAPTURE

The Lord is coming very soon
To take His bride away
It may be midnight or at noon
Or dawning of the day

CHORUS
Oh, the rapture day must be drawing nigh
Let saints look up towards the eastern sky
This rapture will reign on earth, Heaven will rain with birth
For we shall be with Christ our Lord (with Jesus our Lord)
Then we all shall come to the earth again
With the Lord above evermore to reign
And there'll be no more sin, Jesus will dwell within
When we shall live in sweet accord (in perfect accord)

But after Satan's sin's away
And wickedness shall cease
The earth shall have a golden day
A thousand years of peace

CHORUS

A FRIEND LIKE YOU

This life is filled with sorrow and trouble here below
We're often made to wonder just why it should be so
In every tribulation this life must bring to view
Oh Lord, we need a friend like you

CHORUS
Oh Lord we need a Savior upon this weary road
We need someone to guide us and share our heavy load
We need someone to watch us and tell us what to do
Oh Lord, we need a friend like you

Oh Lord, we know you traveled the road to Jericho
And helped a lonely pilgrim, the Bible tells us so
When earthy friends forsake us and all the world seems blue
Oh Lord, we need a friend like you

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Amazing Grace, LFLP 18

I WANT MY LIFE TO BE PLEASING

I want my life to be pleasing to Him
I want to do His will every day
I want to hold Him up in every single way
I want to spread the Word and show someone the way

CHORUS
When my life here on earth is run
When I've faced the setting of the sun
When I see the sunlight growing dim
I wonder if my life is pleasing to Him

The least I can do is to serve my Lord
The least I can do everyday
If I hold Him up to guide me all the way
If I held Him up, there'll come a better day

CHORUS

I wonder if my life is pleasing to Him

Subject: Lyr Add: Redemption Or Judgment
From: cnd
Date: 15 Jan 22 - 03:14 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, Amazing Grace, LFLP 18

REDEMPTION OR JUDGMENT

While meditating on the words and the sayings of my Lord
It seemed to me stood before the bar
It seems I've come my debt to pay, I've heard the angels plainly say
You'll now be judged just as you are

I stood before the Savior's throne, met millions there, I stood alone
Words can't explain the way I felt just then
I thought of all the songs I've sung, thought of all the deeds I've done
It seems I lived my whole life o'er again

You know, we must all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, that we may receive the things done in our body, whether it be good or bad. Can you imagine having to stand before someone so great that even the Heavens and the earth will have to flee away from before His face? Well friends, whether you believe it or not, you too someday will have to stand in judgment, and give an account for the things done in this life. I tried to think of some good things I had done, but I knew that all of my righteousness were as filthy rags in his sight, and I thought of the words of Job, "all that man could plead with God for man."

And then I plainly saw His face, He then stood up to take my place
Tears filled my eyes as he began my plea
He said "She's broken all the law, but I stand now to plea her call
She's one of those that you gave to me."

The book of life was written plain, and praise the Lord they found my name
And with a cry I heard it understood
Though all my deeds were written down, yet not a stain of sin was found
Because they've all been covered by the blood

The blood that flows from Calvary still reaches down to you and me
It's the only thing that'll save this fallen race
For when you stand before the throne, the only claim that you can own
Is your redemption by amazing grace

CHORUS
He came a long, long way from Heaven
To take away our sin and strife
He came a long, long way from Heaven
To give us eternal life

I owed a debt I could not pay
And it was growing every day
But Jesus paid it all for me,
He gave His life on Calvary
Gave it there for you and me
What a Savior, I love Him yes I do

CHORUS

A greater love was never shown
A greater man I've never known
Than Jesus, this lonely Nazarene
Although there never was great fame
There's cleansing power in His great name
What a Savior, I love Him yes I do

PRAY FOR ME

Not long ago I wandered back home
To an old country church on the hill
Then comes many memories of saints that are gone
It seems I can hear them still

CHORUS
Pray for me when all goes well
And you know of no other in need
Just mention my name when you talk to the Lord
When all goes well pray for me

My eyes filled with tears as I knelt at the altar
Where braver soldier had prayed
In their old fashioned manner they worshipped the Lord
Their prayer is my prayer today

I'm weak and unworthy to be a child of God
But His own son's blood has covered my soul
In His loving arms He keeps me safe in His fold
And He'll meet me up in Glory, this I know

WAIT FOR ME

Just wait for me up in Glory, oh yes
Wait by the river of life
Tell Jesus for me that I’m lonely
And burdened with sorrow and strife

But tell him I still sing the story
Until my life here is through
Just wait for me up in Glory
And soon I'll be coming to you

When the Lord called you home, how it broke my heart
To see you go away
Although I knew right from start
We'd meet again someday

So I'll work and I'll pray both night and day
Until my work here is through
And then I'll hear my Master say
"Come home, child, we're waiting for you"

Just wait for me up in Glory
Wait by the river of life
Tell Jesus for me that I'm lonely
And burdened with sorrow and strife

But tell him I still sing the story
Until my life here is through
Just wait for me up in glory
And soon I'll be coming to you

I NEED NO MANSION HERE

When burdens come so hard to bear that no earthly friend can share
Tears drive away the smiles and leave my heart in pain
Then my Lord from heaven above speaks to me in tones of love
Wipes the tears away and makes me smile again

CHORUS
I need no mansion here below for Jesus said that I could go
To a home beyond the clouds not made with hands
Won't you come and go along? We will sing the sweetest song
Ever played upon the harps in Gloryland

Oh, the thought to me is sweet, that my loved ones I will meet
At the ending of the journey here below
Seems I hear their voices blend in a world without an end
I won't worry when the time shall come to go

CHORUS

When Jesus comes to claim his own I will move to my new home
I'll walk and talk with him upon streets of gold
A mansion there is waiting me, soon its beauties I will see
In that city where we never shall grow old

WHAT A TIME IN HEAVEN

In the morning when the Lord shall call me, I want to be ready to go
Up yonder to the beautiful Heaven, to a city that is white as snow
Where the flowers are blooming forever, and the sun there never goes down
You talk about a time in Heaven when I put on my robe and crown

CHORUS
What a time in Heaven when I lay these burdens down
What a time in Heaven when I put on my robe and crown
Everybody's shouting, glory hallelujah, as you leave this sinful ground
What a time in Heaven when I put on my robe and crown

You can talk about a time in the morning when the good Lord calls us home
We shall leave all earthly sorrow, nevermore on earth to roam
We'll be moving, moving yonder to the city in the sky
Where the Savior will live forever and there we'll nevermore die

CHORUS

I'll meet the dear friends and loved ones who have all gone on before
They're waiting for me in glory over on that beautiful shore
We'll sing glad praises to Jesus, oh what a reunion 'twill be
Up there with all of God's children, we'll be forever set free

I'm a-leaving this world for Glory someday

Soon my labor on earth will be ended, we'll be leaving this old world far 'way
We'll be leaving this valley of shadow for a land that is better they say

I told the Savior of my sin and shame
How I had shunned His pleading and gone my selfish way
In search for earthly wealth and worldly fame

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, When I Get Home, LFLP 19

WHEN I GET HOME
(Roscoe Reed)

Since I heard about a better home
I would leave this old world with all its own
Just slip away, most any day, to Heaven's shore
I'd find sweet rest beyond the gates forever more

CHORUS
Yes, I'll reach home some sweet day after awhile
When I walk up the Great Milky Way
Goodbye old world, good morning there, around the throne
What a singing that will be when I get home

When I move up there to settle down
When I step inside the gates to look around
I want at least a million years to view the throne
So many friends, I want to see, when I get home

CHORUS

Oh Lord, hear my prayer before I leave
May I live so my friends will follow me
The little home you gave to me while here below
I'd like to meet each one up there when I get home

CHORUS

From: cnd

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, When I Get Home, LFLP 19

JESUS SAVIOUR PILOT ME
(J. E. Gould)

Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life's tempestuous sea
Unknown waves before me roll
Hiding rock and treach'rous shoal
Chart and compass come from Thee
Jesus Savior, pilot me

As a mother stills her child
Thou canst hush the ocean wild
Boist'rous waves obey Thy will
When Thou sayest to them "be still"
Wondrous Sovereign of the sea
Jesus Savior, pilot me

When at last I near the shore
And the fearful breakers roar
'Twixt me and the peaceful rest
Then, while leaning on Thy breast
May I hear Thee say to me
"Fear not, I will pilot Thee"

Subject: Lyr Add: Too Sacred For Mortal Eyes To See
From: cnd
Date: 16 Jan 22 - 11:56 AM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, When I Get Home, LFLP 19

TO SACRED FOR MORTAL EYES TO SEE
(original lyrics)

To the garden Jesus went, His disciples too
He withdrew from down the stones throw and knelt down to pray
As the time was almost spent, lo, there came to view
Angels bright from God to strengthen Him along the way

CHORUS
'Twas too sacred there for mortal eyes to see
When He prayed to His dear Father "Take this cup from me"
His disciples all so sleepy seemed to be
For that scene was far too sacred for their eyes to see

His disciples fell asleep when the Lord withdrew
They could not behold the beauty of that sacred place
Though they had a watch to keep, that they did not do
We believe that eyes of mortals should not see His face

CHORUS

From: cnd
Date: 16 Jan 22 - 12:14 PM

As sung by Pastor & Mrs. Buck Ledford, When I Get Home, LFLP 19

SOMETIMES A MOUNTAIN

I've been scorned by a neighbor whom I treasured
I've been deceived by a friend I held dear
So many times I just wanted to give up
When I remembered my Lord is right here

CHORUS
Another hill and sometimes there's a mountain
Another road with rocks to hurt my feet
But when He walks along beside me
I can take it, there will be no retreat

I have questioned the loss of a loved one
I wondered why it happened to me
But through prayer I found the answer
It was all quite plain to see

CHORUS

I have faith in my blessed Savior
I know that He can make no mistake
Go some day with Him up in Glory
In Heaven there will be no heartache

STANDING SOMEWHERE IN THE SHADOWS
(E.J. Rollings)

Are there crosses too heavy to carry
And burdens too heavy to bear?
Are there heartaches and tears and anguish
And no one who seems to care?

CHORUS
Standing somewhere in the shadows you'll find Jesus
He's the friend who always cares and understands
Standing somewhere in the shadows you will find Him
And you'll know Him by the nail prints in His hands

Has the storm over shadowed your sunshine
And life lost attraction for you?
Have the dreams that you cherished been broken
Is you soul filled with bitterness too?

When I come to the river at ending of day
When the last winds of sorrow have blown

I won't have to cross Jordan alone
Jesus died all my sins to atone

IT TAKES THE BLOOD OF CALVARY
(Langston-Ledford)

You may try earth's great religions, you may try some things untold
You may try your own vain interests, but these won't save your soul
You may try your own profession, doing deeds both great and bold
It takes the blood of Calvary to save a soul

CHORUS
It takes the blood of Calvary to set a dying sinner free
It takes a wound which I could know* to wash and make you white as snow
So after man has done his best, there's only one can give you rest
It takes the blood of Calvary to save a soul

You may try to keep the sabbath, you may try to keep the law
But in God's true words it tells us Jesus died for one and all
Sinner, if you trust the Savior, all your sins away will roll
It takes the blood of Calvary to save a soul

A HAPPY REUINION

Just a little while to live and labor, just a little while to roam
Just a little while with friends and loved ones, then I shall be going home
We'd see again our friends and loved ones when we cross the river wide
That will be a happy, glad reunion yonder in the bye and bye

CHORUS
I am going home to live with Jesus when I lay my burdens down
Going there to live with friends and loved ones and to wear a robe and crown
Glory, hallelujah, I'm so happy, soon on wings of love I'll rise
There will be a happy, glad reunion over on the other side

Riches of this earth won't last forever, flowers all fade and die
All the little things of earth we cherish vanish in the bye and bye
But the joy in Heaven lasts forever, where the saints shall e'er abide
There will be a happy, glad reunion over on the other side

Humbling your hearts to God saves from the chastening rod
Seek the way pilgrims trod, Christians awake

Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound

Love of so many cold, trusting their wealth and gold
This in God's Word is told, evils abound
When these signs come to pass, nearing the end at last
It will come very fast, trumpets will sound

CHORUS

Troubles will soon be o'er, happy forevermore
When we meet on that shore, free from all care
Rising up in the sky; telling this world goodbye
Homeward we then will fly, glory to share

Some day our last goodbyes on earth will all be spoken
And the journey of life will be through
But before we say goodbye and the chain of life is broken
I will make you this promise true

I firmly promise you that I'll meet you by the river
On the banks of the evergreen shore
Where hearts will never fade and our lips will never tremble
For the loved ones who gone on before

One by one we see them cross o'er the deep and silent blue
They're leaving every moment or two
So I firmly promise you that I'll meet you by the river
Won't you promise to meet me there too?

We know that death is sure and life is mostly certain
But we know not the moments 'twill end
'Ere the silent reapers come and drapes the final curtain
Let us promise to meet again

I firmly promise you that I'll meet you by the river
On the banks of the evergreen shore
Where hearts will never fade and our lips will never tremble
For the loved ones who gone on before

One by one we see them cross o'er the deep and silent blue

A SHUT IN'S PRAYER
(L. G. Presley)

Last night as the moon pulled anchor and sailed down the milky way
It peeped through an old front window where a lonely shut-in lay
The moon seemed to shine much brighter, each star seemed to nod it's head
The night seemed so strangely peaceful when they heard what the shut-in said

CHORUS
Dear God way up in Heaven, I earnestly pray to thee
And my prayer, oh Lord, will thou answer, lay a healing hand on me
This vain world seems to forget me, I've been a shut-in so long
I'm needing your love, dear Jesus, instill in my heart a song

I trust that I'm not asking too much of thy heavenly wealth
When humbly, dear Lord, I pray thee, just give me back my health
The moon sails up on her journey, the starts twinkled from above
To dreamland the shut-in drifted as they offered a prayer of love

CHORUS

THE LITTLE OLD CHURCH BY THE ROAD

Often times in my memory I've wandered again to the little old church by the road
I can see the dear people and hear them so plain singing songs of the blessed abode
I can hear my dear mother as she fervently prayed, "blessed Jesus help me carry my load"
She was never downhearted and never dismayed in the little old church by the road

CHORUS
There my mother was praying while the preacher was saying "sinners come and repent your sins"
There the evil was routed and the sisters all shouted while the brethren were saying amen
It was there I met Jesus and gave Him my life, it was there He took the weight off my load
And He freely removed all my sorrow and strife in the little old church by the road

I can never forget all those lovely old songs that the people so joyfully sang
How they bore the Lord message to the poor sinful throng and the echoes so joyfully rang
I shall always remember when I truly believed, Jesus freely took the weight off my load
And the joy of salvation I fully received in the little old church by the road

THE CRY FROM THE CROSS
(J. Masters)

One morning in Jerusalem, just about the break of dawn
A trial was in session, they trying my dear Lord
They beat Him and they scorned Him, and they made Him carry His cross
On top of Calvary's mountain they crucified my Lord

CHORUS
Oh, the cry from the cross
Forgive them, Blessed Father, He died upon the cross
Oh, the cry from the cross
The Son of God was dying to save the world from loss

Crying "Father, it is finished," then He bowed His head and died
This world, it was in darkness, and the soldiers pierced His sides
The debt for sin He paid there in full for you and me
He gave Himself a ransom, salvation to be free

CHORUS

They let His friends then take Him and they laid him in a tomb
Not knowing He would rise again and vanquish all the gloom
An earthquake rocked Jerusalem and the dead walked in the town
The multitudes was frightened, God's wrath come pouring down

CHORUS

THE CROSS IN THE GARDEN
(E. M. Baygents)

There's a home beyond the river where the saints shall live forever
In a home, that blessed home of the free
'Twas prepared for habitation at the end of our salvation
Through the cross that stood on dark Calvary

CHORUS
Jesus went into the garden and He prayed unto the Father
"Oh my God, let this cup pass from me"
The disciples all were sleeping while the son of God was weeping
In the garden of Gethsemane

In a garden close to Heaven all our sins were then forgiven
When our Savior redeemed us from loss
Our dear Lord in pain and sorrow gave us all our hopes tomorrow
Dying there upon the old rugged cross

CHORUS
