Subject: Lyr Req: Hillbilly Car Breakdown Thread
From: Joe Offer

Here's an email from Carter. I've looked every which-a-way, and can't find it. Can anybody point it out so I can say, "Oh, fer dumb"?

    Hey Joe,

I'm looking for a thread that I believe was revived some time in the last year or so (maybe even 180 days) but can't for the life of me find it. It was some sort of hillbilly song about cars breaking down called something like auto blues or car boogie or auto breakdown, and I am fairly certain the artist was the "XXX Brothers" where the x'es were their name.

I know creating a thread to find a thread is frowned upon (and don't think many other people interacted with the thread, so they may not remember it anyways) so I figured I'd email you first. Does this ring any bells?

    Thanks,
    Carter

Thanks Joe.

Another potentially obfuscating detail was that the name was (I believe) intentionally misspelled.

I remember the particular hang-up of the thread was that no recording for the song was online. I recall seeing copies of the album (fairly certain it was a 78) for sale online but opting not to buy one at the time.

Do we remember the name of anybody who posted to the thread?

The problem is that our SuperSearch depends on an index that has to be updated, and it doesn't get updated very often. Therefore, our Filter and our old forum search engines are often more helpful.

Sorry, Joe, I don't remember anyone's name who posted to the thread. I didn't realize we had an older forum search, though. That one seems to bring up more things. I'll poke around with it and get back to you.

One other potential detail I've just realized -- It could have been an old thread revived by a spammer posting a nefarious link. The more I'm thinking about it, the more likely I believe that to be what happened, unfortunately.

Thanks for the attempt, # -- close, but not quite it.

HOWEVER! I found it! The thread was a request for V-8 Blues by The Three Tobacco Tags - see https://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=66836

Joe, you can feel free to delete this thread. Thanks all for the help
