Subject: DFW Mudcat Gathering - Jan 19 From: JedMarum Date: 11 Jan 00 - 12:40 PM We will be connecting up with the Mudcat Radio on Wednesday, January 19 from the Open Mic Show at the Celtic Quill. We would love to have as many DFW area Mudcatters attend, as possible! Let's give Max and Bert a warm Texas welcome for their radio show. We will play the Mudcat Radio show live over the house PA system, we will call in - and we will open the phone mic up to a live performer (or two) from the club. This is not a high tech hook up, so we will be a bit limited … but we can give Max and Bert a bit of Texas hospitality, Mudcat style! If you can make it, please come on by at 6:30 so we can talk a bit prior to the show. I'll have to ask you to introduce yourself to me (click here), since I won't know y'all. Please respond to this thread if you can make it. |

Subject: RE: DFW Mudcat Gathering - Jan 19 From: JedMarum Date: 13 Jan 00 - 11:55 AM Max and Bert - I have mapped out a schedule for our simul-cast next week; Mudcat Radio live from the Celtic Quill. I will gather the local Mudcatters early for the show; 6:30 PM CST. We will meet and prepare for the live connection. I will send you a tape from some of the Celtic Quill folkies and ask that you play it shortly after 7:00 PM CST, at the start of the simul-cast. I will call in from the Quill and say hello, and pass the phone to the other attending Mudcatters - All of the above events will take place while the show is being played through the sound system to the Celtic Quill crowd. We will shut down the live link and give you a call from a speaker phone at the stage (the delay in Internet broadcast makes two comms impossible). Using the speaker phone, we'll have a live performance over the phone. And that should be about half an hour. Sound OK??

Subject: RE: DFW Mudcat Gathering - Jan 19 From: JedMarum Date: 17 Jan 00 - 01:01 PM Max - First of all timewise, I believe we agreed that we go live with the simulcast at 8PM EST (7PM CST) and run for about half an hour. Is that correct? I have asked the locals to meet at 6:30 CST in the Quill to say hello, get acclimated to the room, make any last minute plans … and get a pint or two into their systems … just to loosen things up a bit! I will send you a tape with two songs. Could you begin the Live Show half hour by playing one of the songs? I'll call in after that song finishes, and we can talk a bit - I'd like to tell you a little bit about the song, and then talk about some other stuff, too - eg. I'd like to tell you a little bit about what the Celtic Quill Wed night show is all about, who the crowd is and so forth. The Quill audience will be listening in to this conversation via the live link from my laptop to the House PA system. Then I'd like to have any of Dallas Mudcatters, who are willing to talk, also say hello to you and Bert. I know there are some who said they are trying to arrange their schedules to participate n the show. When we are finished with the call, I'd like to introduce the next song on the tape and have you play it. The first song is called Midnight in Montreal. It's an "I am thinkin' about you" sort of song, set in the North East's best kept secret, Montreal (one really cool city). The second is an Irish in America historical song regarding the 6th Louisiana regiment of the Confederate Army. It is called The Fighting Tigers of IrelandThese are two songs that the Celtic Quill audience know well, and will be pleased to hear over the (virtual) air. After that we'll kill the live broadcast to the Quill and use a speaker phone to speak to you and Bert from the stage (we have to kill the broadcast because of the delay). We will then have two of our regular Open Mic performers sing for the live audience (two songs), and the speaker phone will carry that signal to you. I will work to refine that speaker phone sound as much as possible. We will spend the afternoon at the Quill playing with the set up, so I believe we can get an acceptable result. BUT we will double check the sound before we do a second song (there's no use putting the Mudcat Radio 'viewers' through two painful songs if the sound ain't workin'). That should do it. I expect we will take up about half an hour with all of that. Does that sound OK? |

Subject: RE: DFW Mudcat Gathering - Jan 19 From: JedMarum Date: 17 Jan 00 - 01:10 PM This is a final plea to DFW Mudcatters to come on out to the Celtic Quill and join in the live broadcast. I know it's a tough time to get into the city, and rearrange your families' activities ... so if really can't get out to the Quill, please, please please, call in to the show. We should allow some time at the end of the show to hear from DFW Mudcatters who couldn't make the live show. |
