Subject: BS: Short Story: Caruso & Father Record From: meself Date: 23 Apr 21 - 05:51 PM Ring a bell? I'm trying to track down a short story I vaguely remember from a 'reader' when I was in elementary school: Caruso and the narrator's father were friends; the father went to the recording studio and Caruso greeted him, which greeting inadvertently went onto the first recording - this record was given to the father, and a new recording done; the one-of-a-kind record becomes valuable; the family argues over whether or not to sell it; the narrator smashes the record. Anyone recall the title or author or ... ? |
Subject: RE: BS: Short Story: Caruso/Grandfather Record From: meself Date: 23 Apr 21 - 05:53 PM I see I've got 'Grandfather' in the thread title - I think it should have been 'Father', as in my OP. |

Subject: RE: BS: Short Story: Caruso/Grandfather Record From: Monique Date: 24 Apr 21 - 03:34 AM I'd never heard of it before but I put "short story caruso sell record father smash" into Google" and it came out. |

I saw on a TED video of a case of two friends who searched "Egypt". One set of results came up "Arab Spring" - the other "hotels in Cairo & Luxor". To improve your search skills you have to have a search different history. IMNSHO As I always say "There is always someone who knows something you don't" - a sobering thought for experts in any field. |
