Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: roopoo Date: 13 Jan 00 - 02:49 AM I'd love to be there, but distance and finance forbid. Still, your loss is our gain - that party means we're going to get 'em back with us soon after!! mouldy |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 13 Jan 00 - 08:05 PM Now that we finally have some snow it may be too scary for anyone to get here- and I'm hours away from anybody on the Cat. Don't worry Bill and Lorna- the usual suspects will be here (whom you met in June) and we'll melt the snow on our own! |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: Jeri Date: 13 Jan 00 - 08:24 PM Not that many hours - less than two!!! I'll be sending you a personal message asking for directions. Hey, I missed the last party for Bill at your house, and regretted it. Wouldn't miss this one - especially if there will be dancing in the snow! (Now where's that Barry Finn got to?) |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: Barry Finn Date: 17 Jan 00 - 12:01 PM Hi Jeri, I'm hear, Allison thanks for the heads up. It looks like a possibility, I just closed up the last bit of the addition yesterday & beat all this winter weather. I'll check with my wife & kids to see if they've planned anything but after 16 straight weekends (getaway excluded) of house building I'm in much need of a musical break. Can you post to me the times, so I can plan around it & if I can make I don't want to come in one hand as short as the other, let me know what I can bring. In the hopes of seeing you again thanks. Barry PS: I seeem to remember a few others not to far away. Someone's in central New Hampshire & I think there's someone just south of the border & John Nolan (does great Border Ballads from his home area) is over in the seacoast area near to Jeri, then there's a bunch around Boston (maybe under a 2 hour drive). |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 17 Jan 00 - 03:40 PM I'm inviting locals to come around 6 pm EST but anyone traveling a distance is welcome whenever they get here. Bring a sleeping bag; we'll find floor space somewhere. This is going to be fun! Allison |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: Susan A-R Date: 18 Jan 00 - 09:22 PM Allison, I am actually doing a party on Sunday for volunteers for our local folk presenter. If the numbers are small, and I can figure out the transport, I'll try to be there. Susan A-R |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: Barry Finn Date: 28 Jan 00 - 03:28 AM Alright, it's 3:30 AM & I can't sleep, throat's a little sore but improving. I'm thinking of music & what I can bring. Nearing 50 & still get like an excited little kid when it comes to folk music. OK, what can I bring, might as well start on it now cause if I start singing I'll be shot by my sleeping family. Barry (who's almost out the door a day early) |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: GUEST Date: 28 Jan 00 - 10:36 AM Tell Bill and Lorna good-bye for me! What about trying to get KENDALL to come down? Kendall-you'll never meet any women just hanging out with Seamus! Crank up the Model T and go! I know you Maine-iacs feel like why should you travel-you're already there, but NH isn't so far. I had a great time with Bill and Lorna at the Mermaid, and they stayed in the guest room at my house. The smell was all gone by then, I think! You're still welcome here, Kendall-I even washed the sheets! Mary Mccaffrey |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 28 Jan 00 - 01:12 PM Yes, Kendall, come on down! And Barry, keep drinking tea with honey and lemon- we want you as much as we want your voice! I heard from Susan A-R that I should be seeing the Sables later this afternoon, so I'm really getting excited. Allison |

Subject: RE: Sables farewell party From: Barry Finn Date: 30 Jan 00 - 04:13 PM Hi Animaterra, thanks for sharing the opportunity to meet with Bill & Lorna & thanks for the invite. What a pleasure it was to listen & play with Bill, I wouldn't be surprised if in a former life he wasn't the person who invented the string (all of them) instruments. Bill & Lorna weren't impressed with the bitter New England cold snap but between Alison, Jeri & Bob Jovi the room warmed right up. Bill, we played your CD the whole 1 3/4 hour ride back, thanks & I still am knock over by your "Clancy Of The Overflow", to hear you play & sing that & then have it on your CD would've been worth it for me to have walked to Alison's barefoot over the mountain, thanks. You two should really stay here.
Hi Bob Jovi, thanks for the kind words in the 'Feedback' thread. It was a treat to meet up with you.
Hi Jeri, always nice to see/hear you, nice shanty. Maybe I can get over your way soon. Thanks again Alison & to your fine family too for the for making it such a pleasant evening. See you at NEFFA. Barry. |
