28 August On this day in 1963, black civil rights leader Martin Luther King made his famous “I have a dream...” speech to a rally of 200,000 people in Washington.

ABRAHAM, MARTIN AND JOHN is a 1968 song written by Dick Holler. The song itself is a tribute to the memory of four assassinated Americans, all icons of social change: Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and Robert F. Kennedy. It was written in response to the assassination of King and that of Robert Kennedy in April and June 1968, respectively. Wikipedia

Another Katrina song is THE COVER OF THE NEW YORK TIMES,    by Truckstop Honeymoon , on their CD, Great Big Family. They lived in New Orleans, were out of town when Katrina hit, and were surprised to see a picture of their home, or, rather, the water covering it, on the cover of the New York Times. CHOLERA CAMP
Lyrics by Rudyard Kipling

Since August, when it started, it's been stickin' to our tail,
Though they've 'ad us out by marches an' they've 'ad us back by rail;

The airship R-100 arrived in Saint-Hubert, Montreal in the early morning of August 1, 1930 after a voyage of almost 79 hours covering 3,364 miles (5,414 km). This was the first long-range international flight under the Imperial Airship Scheme.

The airship stayed there for 12 days with over 100,000 people visiting the airship each day. Nevil Shute, the senior stress engineer for R100, wrote that a song was composed by La Bolduc to make fun of the people's fascination with R100. Shute, Nevil (1954). Slide Rule: Autobiography of an Engineer. Wikipedia

TOUJOURS L'R 100 · La Bolduc
«Viens-tu avec moi son père, on va aller à Saint-Hubert
Va donc att’ler ta jument pis on va aller voir l’R-100
Mais regard-moi donc ti-Noir t’as mis ta ch’mise à l’envers
Il y a un trou dedans qu’est aussi grand que l’R-100.»
