Subject: BS: 9 darter? From: Bonzo3legs Date: 30 Aug 21 - 06:21 AM Has anyone here ever managed to achieve a 9 darter ?? |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Backwoodsman Date: 30 Aug 21 - 06:31 AM I used to be able to manage a 3-times-a-nighter… ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: The Sandman Date: 30 Aug 21 - 06:40 AM What are you talking about? |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Bonzo3legs Date: 30 Aug 21 - 07:05 AM A 9 darter is achieving 501 in darts with just 9 throws, the last throw must be a double. For instance: 3 treble 20 3 treble 20 1 treble 20 1 treble 19 finish on double 12 |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Bonzo3legs Date: 30 Aug 21 - 07:07 AM The total number of different ways of achieving 501 with nine darts is 3,944, of which 2,296 finish with the bullseye, 672 end on D20, 792 on D18, 56 end on D17, 120 end on D15, and 8 end on D12. |

Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Jon Freeman Date: 30 Aug 21 - 07:54 AM Not me and it's years since I've thrown a dart. The only thing I might have been good at was winding up in the mad house (stuck needing double 1). I never played often but used to prefer other games anyway. mickey mouse and killer |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Bonzo3legs Date: 30 Aug 21 - 08:11 AM First televised 9 darter!! |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Mr Red Date: 30 Aug 21 - 08:11 AM I don't see the point 😄 |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Donuel Date: 30 Aug 21 - 08:22 AM I had custom darts but I have a hard enough time practicing mandolin or ukelele. To be good, practice time is enormous. Dart competitions consume extremely large quanties of beer. They have their own crowd songs that erupt like a wave. |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Steve Shaw Date: 30 Aug 21 - 08:32 AM Can anyone explain why, in days of yore, I could play darts like a demon when very pissed, but could then hardly stagger out of the pub? |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Donuel Date: 30 Aug 21 - 08:52 AM Because there was no interference by a conscious mind. |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Bonzo3legs Date: 30 Aug 21 - 09:00 AM Because there was nobody around you using long words trying to sound clever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Rapparee Date: 30 Aug 21 - 09:37 AM I have two friends who have done that, or so they say and the match records bear them out. They can't seem to stop talking about it, but never say how long ago it was and I don't remember the dates on the records. I do know it wasn't recently. |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 30 Aug 21 - 09:54 AM Not me. Nor a 147 break. I'm rubbish at games but great at life :-D |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Doug Chadwick Date: 30 Aug 21 - 10:07 AM Once this morning and twice yesterday. Like all the holes in one that I have sunk and the 147 breaks I have made, it gets boring after a while. DC |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Nigel Parsons Date: 30 Aug 21 - 10:26 AM Comparing '9 darters' with '147 breaks' seems a little unfair. 9 darts is the least possible number of darts to complete a game of 501. 147 (despite all the tv commentators) is not the maximum break possible in snooker. Perhaps it would be better comparing a '9 darter' with a 300 in Tenpin Bowling. |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Dave the Gnome Date: 30 Aug 21 - 11:53 AM Everyone normal understands the point I was making, Nigel. I have no idea about 10 bin bowling so your point is wasted on me. No, don't bother explaining. |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Jon Freeman Date: 30 Aug 21 - 03:25 PM 147 is totally fair. Anything higher requires a foul by the opponent before coming to the table. Looking things up on Wiki, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh (who's he, I ask myself and better rember the old days of pot black, that being up to date with snooker players now) may be the only player to have achieved a recorded on camera maximum of 155. Anyway, before people go back to darts, I think it's time for a wonderful snooker tune. Winifred Atwell playing the black and white rag |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Bonzo3legs Date: 30 Aug 21 - 03:50 PM Snooker/billiards is very boring. |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Nigel Parsons Date: 30 Aug 21 - 05:00 PM Yes, Jon. But 155 is the theoretical maximum which can be scored by one player on their break, without including any penalty points conceded by their opponent. It's just annoying (add this to the 'pet peeves' thread) to hear 147 described as the 'maximum possible break'. 'Maximum possible score from "the break" ', yes! |
Subject: RE: BS: 9 darter? From: Mrrzy Date: 31 Aug 21 - 02:45 PM I used to throw darts, in my adolescence. Tried the other day... Did not just miss the target, I hit a different *wall* and they took my darts away. |
