All I've got to go by is '..instead of being a lilywhite corpse, she might have been my bride' - but when I google it, all I get is Tim Burton's Corpse Bride - which is no help at all. This sounds like a rather ghoulish parlour balled. Any suggestions?

Probably a version of The Knoxville Girl / Cruel Miller. See

search (ctrl+F) for "corpse" and you'll see similar passages, but with lilywhite replaced by breathless

The concept springs to mind in the context of lots of ballads out there.
