We get the US news here in the UK of course so I know the Republican senate are trying to revoke Disney's special status. I gather it is because Disney disagree with the right wing stance on LGBT rights. Have I got that right? Can someone more 'in the know' tell me the inside story and what is likely to happen?

Disney issued a public letter decrying the the Florida govenor's don't say gay law
. In response the State House voted to punish Disney, probably with the right wing govenor's insistence. Stupidity ensues.
Meanwhile Disney's sweetheart tax deal is in jeopardy.

Govenor De Santis wants to replace Trump, so culture war and dictator status for white Christian racist values is his base.

If you research who wrote the most Disney songs you will find there are gay composers as well as writers and designers so Disney has vested interests. The white nationalist culture warrior De Santis is trying to turn back the clock. imo

Will Disney; win, pull up stakes and move, bow down to right wing intents, blow up or sell their Florida address - I don't know but the stand off should not be ignored.

Mostly I think Gov Ron Desantis and his goons are proposing or passing colorful laws which will get lots of publicity but then be booted out by the courts.

The legal arrangement with Disney involves contracts, lawyers, local governments and mucho dinero. it will not be overthrown because a letter irritated the governor.

Actually, they do. Another one of Desantis's "colorful" laws is one that requires that all Florida school children be taught a course called "The Evils of Communism". Now Texas tried to pass a law that opposing views on issues had to be taught, (One legislator notoriously said that opposing views about the holocaust should be taught.) Now I wish that Florida had such a law because then they would have to also teach about the evils of capitalism, you know, the Ludlow Massacre, the WV coalfield wars, slavery. I personally think every 11th grader in America should read "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn.
