Subject: RE: Origins: Oh, Sir Jasper Do Not Touch Me! From: and e Date: 10 Mar 24 - 08:58 PM The "Oh Sir Jasper" is often associated with "Pink Pajamas" as they share the same tune. But "Pink Pajamas" can be traced as an independent ditty to pre-WWI. See this mudcat thread for "Pink Pajamas": https://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=172802 |
Subject: RE: Origins: Oh, Sir Jasper Do Not Touch Me! From: GUEST,Steve Shaw Date: 10 Mar 24 - 09:31 PM Bit of a funny thread, but I remember a camping holiday in Scotland in 1974 when we had to walk four miles there and four (pissed) miles back to get to the nearest pub to the campsite (in Killin, Perthshire). We sang this song, exactly as in the opening post, to keep us going on the long slog back. To do it right, you have to do some almost orgasmic singing on the "Oh, Sir Jasper!" line! And "She's a most immoral lady" is a key part of the song! |
