Room Singers. The singer had to be in an empty adacent room. because of shyness.

When Rodriguez was still playing clubs, he always played with his back to the crowd out of shyness. When Robert Johnson did it it was so nobody could copy his guitar technique.

That article's just John B. taking the mickey. If you don't agree, please provide evidence of someone who was a bucket singer.

What about singers who cannot sing but do!

How can bad singers get better if they are not given the chance to improve. Everyone has to start somewhere. Vocal beauty is in the ear of the beholder. Even the best singers have their critics.

If you are paying to hear them, you could always ask for your money back or, at least, avoid them next time. If they are singing for pleasure, then move away if it is annoying you. In an informal folk setting, it is normally only a couple of minutes of your life that you won't get back if you stick around.

A few "singers who cannot sing but do" is the price we pay for encouraging others to find the joy of singing.

Yes I agree, some spend their lifetime learning songs but cannot master the tunes

Occasionally they can carry the dialogue and get away with it ~ practice does not always solve the situation, unfortunately

In the early 1970s, I was told of a singer in Donegal - by then long dead - who got enhanced resonance by singing while sitting inside a barrel.
