Subject: RE: DTStudy: Flower Carol From: leeneia Date: 01 Apr 24 - 08:52 PM I'm going to show you the way I've learned it without doing any research. Chances are I learned all of it from the Sing Out! book. Life in all ITS growing powers Fine in growth their pleasure And set meadows dancing. ========== I'd never seen the 4th and 5th verses before, but... "in the awakening season" doesn't scan, and I would just sing 'wak'ning season. The word "wake" has so many forms (wake, waked, woke, awake, awakened) that any form sounds like it was valid at one time or another. "And hearts are lead by reason" I would drop "and"; the proper verb is led, not lead (the metal) "fashioned by your virtue" doesn't make any sense. Saints don't make skies and meadows; they pray and do good works. No wonder this verse has been pretty-much forgotten. ======================= Thanks for reminding me of this song. This is a great time of year for it. |
