Subject: Lyr Req: Winter folksong woman up north conjures? From: Peter T. Date: 26 Nov 24 - 12:27 PM Hi all, this song is in the back of my mind but is mostly lost. i think it is on Mudcat somewhere..... It involves a woman up north and at some point her (lost?) brothers appear at the door knocking. I guess it is in the dead of night. It is very eerie, traditional, so if you can help -- and who if not Mudcat? -- help? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Winter folksong woman up north conjures? From: Howard Kaplan Date: 26 Nov 24 - 10:09 PM If it's sons rather than brothers, then it might be "The Wife of Usher's Well", Child ballad #79. You can read more about it on the Bluegrass Messengers site here or on the Mainly Norfolk site here. |
