There are references to Declan Affley, the terrific Australian singer who left us some 40 years ago, scattered over many Mudcat threads. A trove of Affley recordings are now available on bandcamp. https://declanaffley.bandcamp.com/

I remember seeing Declan perform at least once at Newcastle (NSW) Folk Club.

I also remember someone telling me that we weren't allowed to play or sing Carrickfergus because that song was Declan's song, which confused me because I thought it was an old Irish song but they respected Declan's work.

An uilleann pipe making friend who was living in Aus at the time knew Affley well and had great stories about their meetings. I remember when the news of his death arrived (and the speculation what eould happen to his lovely old set of Harrington pipes).
I was hoping to hear some of his piping among the recordings but only found him playing fecking old Boolavogue, which I'd not a yune I fancy much.
