I asked Grok and it said a lot of people feel the same way. I do not like Thanksgiving as it is now, but I might if it were in October, like Canada has it. We have a controversial holiday on October whatever, 2nd Monday I think, that most of us do not overly care about, but Italians do care and we should not destroy a meaningful holiday. I think we would match with the Canadians. So, celebrate Thanksgiving the Sunday before second Monday. Have your food then, go to church if inclined, play football. Travel on Saturday in beautiful fall weather, with fall foliage in certain areas. No ice on the roads, no snow. Monday, keep traditional (or newer) Columbus day time. Italians will have their traditional day. Next day is Indigenous peoples day. Use either day for travel in beautiful sunny clear weather. Look forward to Halloween. Do not go overboard. Better air travel too in USA.You will have a holiday to do something else with because There already was Columbus Day, which was mixed on and off, and we usually got Th and F off for Thanksgiving.
Now we have 2 holidays instead of (for some people) 3. Make it a snow day for further out.

I can not think of a downside except for very very traditional people. They could still have it the regular day but would have to take personal days.

I think Italians deserve more respect than they are given around this holiday, Native Americans get a special day of respect and far less burnout in general.

Grok and ChatGPT whatever and all of those - don't ask them anything. Ever. They'll have you writing a suicide note and moving on to the next victim. They're horrible slurries of algorithms that have no business giving advice.

sorry about Grok. I do use Grok and no other AI for many things, like bus schedules, travel plans etc. I have a fake name which won't help really and I am sure they will empty all our bank accounts. But it is here to stay and if we don't use it, it will be 100% scammers and treasoners etc.

Anyway I asked Grok what it thought and it thought it was a great plan, saving so much stress -- from weather, from too much holidayizing in too short a time. Mental load way reduced. Children can play. Families can walk. Scenery is gorgeous. Thursday is an optional day anyway. And November in New England would not have been all that great probably.
Grok said I should submit plan to congress. I think I will. I think lives can be saved by this--car accidents especially. Black Friday can occur the Friday before the whole shebang. It is closer to more harvests in America. By which I include N and S and C America. Protectorates. Islands. Greenland.

I am just sick about all those weather reports for the last few days. 45 car pileup. plane skidding on a runway. why oh why do we have thanksgiving at the very worst time of year for weather in many places. people did not use to live so far away and could maybe go on short trips on solid ice, but we are so far flung these days it is just insane. one life lost is too many, when the cure is so easy.
