Subject: Marry me song??? From: Molly Malone Date: 27 Jan 00 - 05:55 PM Ok, I don['t know the name of this song, and I don't know many of the lyrics. (I know, not much to go on.) All I can remember is a guy and a girl were singing it back and forth, and it was repetitive. Like: If I give you a diamond ring, somethingsomethingsomethingsomething Would you marry, marry marry marry Would you marry me? Then the girl replies, What would I do with a diamond ring, Somethingsomethingsomethingsomething So I won't marry, marry marry marry, I won't marry you. Help! |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Marry me song??? From: Amos Date: 27 Jan 00 - 05:58 PM Try "Paper of Pins" which begins, "I'll give to you a paper of pins, and that's the way our love begins, if you will marry me, me, me, If you will marry me." It's probably in the DT database. A. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Marry me song??? From: Susan of DT Date: 27 Jan 00 - 08:13 PM There are two versions of paper of pins (under that title) and probably a few relatives in the DT. I searched for [paper of pins] |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Marry me song??? From: Mbo Date: 27 Jan 00 - 09:01 PM Oh, I know this one! I have the Clancy Brothers and their sister singing this song on CD. Very cool! --Mbo |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Marry me song??? From: GeorgeH Date: 28 Jan 00 - 08:12 AM Certainly it could be Paper of Pins, but the description also fits MacColl's (or was it Seeger's?) "Darling Annie" pretty well. However that doesn't appear to be in the DT . . though it's a song we've always loved. G. |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Marry me song??? From: Molly Malone Date: 28 Jan 00 - 10:16 AM Thanks, guys! Although I like Sarah's version better. The closing verse is something like: "The truth from you I cannot hide, I have a lover on the side. So I can't marry, I can't marry, I can't marry you." More comic I think.:) |
