If I was cynical I'd think he'd done it on purpose, to remind us how much we'd miss the Mudcat if it ceased to be.

(Just in case it didn't hit everywhere, I'm talking about an error message that's been on screen for the past day or so in place of the Mudcat.)

Kevin, for a look at something close to what you're thinking, go back to April 1 of last year and read the thread "Mudcat is closing its doors" or something like that. BUT, promise not to refresh it!

Max and elves: THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! MISSED YOU ALL!!

Dearest Max, Elves, and 'Catters:

Missed you all, and in trying to explain the Mudcat DT's to a friend, came to this very conclusion about the'Cat...

This is the place where brilliant minds assemble to willfully pool ignorance with questionable logic in order to reach absurd conclusions. Glad you are back! Elle

Sorcha -- 'calls for a drink' indeed! What do you think I've been doing all day since the Mudcat wasn't around?

(Just kidding!!) Actually, I had fun on that old fashioned email thang with my hero, Amos. You guys should hear this fella -- he sounds just like a young Johnny Cash! Oh, by the way, I'm the President of the Infamous Amos Fan Club -- if you want to join, you have to enter a song on the SONG CHALLENGE! thread. (Shameless plug, I know!) Along with playing in the ethernet with Amos, I wrote a song . . . But, I'm still glad I've got all my buddies back where they belong!

Gee, I got two phone calls and three e-mail messages. I called Onstagemedia twice, because Barry Finn sounded desperate. Don't know if there was a need for me to call.
So I did taxes instead. It was lookig really good, like I was going to get a $39,000 refund, which I couldn't quite believe. Then I found I made a typo, one little digit....
So, Uncle Sam, I guess I owe you, huh?
Darn.

I'd don't know what happened but I salute your hard work to get it back up and running. All hail King Max--you must bow to King Max! We swear fealty to him and his amazing powers! LONG LIVE THE KING!

Ye gods - I'm new to MC, but I thought it was my PC that was the problem and spent a half day in Dixons looking for a replacement-worse than that I had time to bake a cake-it was disgusting and I now my place is not in the kitchen but in front of a monitor. Nice to be back folks -did we miss anything?

Joe, thanks for trying to help me in my final last hours.
I was ready to go to Bill Sable's farewell party at Alison's & when I went to go to my mudcat personnel page for the directions, Oh,Oh. I knew Jeri was headed there but I couldn't get through, she was at the moment trying to get to mudcat herself. Well, the only one I knew & had a phone # for was God's gift to Max's elfs, Joe Offer who got right on it, I called him back to let him know that I did finally get through to Jeri & got directions. My big fear was I wouldn't find Alison's & there be no mudcat to indulge my sorry self in.

By the gentle river's curl
Sang a woe-begotten girl
Now my life is plainly over!
No more pleasant fields of clover ;
One little digit me betrayed!
Now I am no more a mai!d
Woe, oh woe, virginity!
Damn it, 'Spaw! Come rescue me!

(sounds like one of those times that we used to get, when something needed to be re-set/booted on a Sat., and no one was in the office...fortunately, all the connections and setups are more stable now, and don't seem to require Max's constant attention)

If you catch them and Max hears, he'll send them to Microsoft hell for a year. Dont you stray away again, a Kat not laughing is a sad sight, and a sailor crying will cause a fright. The Crash of the Mudcat Server

Tune: On Springield Mountain

In Pennsylvania, there did dwell
An NT Server, I knew well
This server's disks and RAM and FAT
were dedicated to the 'Cat.

CH: O toory oory, reety-reet,
Escape, Control and Alt-Delete!

One day this server of the race
A single digit, did misplace
And in a register so deep
A hex code conflict soon did creep!

CH: (O toory oory...)

This simple error, small and fine
Soon crashed the Cat's collective mind!
Dismay and grief did quickly spread!
ANd several Mudcats lost their heads

Brave Dave, the Canuck sailor bold
Upon his floor did quickly fold.
While lost to chat, our gentle Ann
Burned all the cookies in the pan!

Cho: O toory, etc

Joe Offer did his very best
To help dear Allison find a guest
While Max stayed up through half the night
Until the damn machine ran right

While Sorcha, sophocleese and Kat
Feared that they might be going bats
And Amos ran around the halls
Suffering symptoms of withdrawal!

Cho

But now the Mudcat's back on line
And everything seems to be fine
One moral we can carry back!
If you must get hooked, please get a Mac!

Cho.

NOW DANG IT!! I can't be everywhere!! If y'all are gonna write songs on other threads, y'all have got to let me know so I can put 'em in the Songbook!

Geez loueez, I just got through putting the Song Challenge winners up, and what are y'all doing behind my back? Writing more great songs! No rest for the talented, eh?

Amos, consider yours up by midnight -- and Dave, finish what ya started, ya ole dog, so I can put yours up too! And that's an order from the Captain of the Songbook -- and ya know ya don't want to piss off a lady cap'n!

When you let the genie out of the bottle, dear Áine, you can't complain and ask him to climb back in!! That's what happens when you go around rubbing pickle jars! :>)

And I think you do manage to be everywhere -- I hasd no sooner come back to see how the html on this song came out when you had already posted, complaining you couldn't do what you had already done! :>)

Ok, ok...I'll notify you if I get any more attacks of muse-o-rhea.

No complaints at all here -- Write away, my friends, just make sure you send your entire 'ouvre' to me for the Songbook!

BTW Amos, your song is now in the Mudcat Songbook.

Dear Dave, my matey,

I like to do my flogging in a nice quiet cell, so I guess I'm up for both -- and you?

It's a great poem, and I think it'll work as a song. I think Amos or Mbo could come up with an appropriate tune for it, don't ya think? All you need is a chorus and we have to do something with the line 'Don't you stray again,' but I'm sure that we'll think of something.

So, get to work on the chorus and I'm sure we can get this ditty ship-shape before we reach port!

-- (Admiral) Áine

Control Alt Delete, and
kicked the bastard with my feet.
Nothing works my heart is sad,
I feel so lonely and I'm going to go mad.

Max it's gone, the Mudcats lost,
never mind the bloody cost.
Fix it, mend it and bring it right back,
cause there aint no singing in this here shack.

Talk about stress and abuse,
for computers I aint got no use.
Please dont take my Chat room away,
only just got it the other day.

One little digit in the wrong place,
lost the Mudcat to the human race.
If you catch them and Max hears,
he'll send them to Microsoft hell for a year.

Dont you stray away again,
a Kat not laughing is a sad sight,
and a sailor crying will cause a fright.
Mudcats back lets all cheer,
I'll never go away from here.

Fer sure, Amos! Let me dig my high-heeled black leather boots out of the closet . . . What say we use Dave's first verse as the chorus for his song? Oh, have you seen the cat-o-nine-tails lately? I let Spaw borrow it over the weekend and I can't find it anywhere. He said something about going after some mousse eater as he walked off slapping it against his thigh and smiling . . .

Well what good is a Mudcat if he can't catch and eat Mousses? I think this political correctitude thing is going too far! The real question is, where you want to be on the food chain -- mousses don't eat cats. Not, at least, that they allow in public, although I have known some kinky mousses.

I will workup some tune for Davie's inspiring words this evening. I really have to do some work around here or they'll stop paying me!!
