Hi All, I just joined as a member, spurred on by the "Guest" thread. I filled out the name info.... is there any other information I should/could fill out? Profile, interests ect. After lurking for about 5 days I have found this to be one of the best forums available.. based upon about 7 years of being online. Looking forward to interesting conversations in the future.

Thanks Casey@50

hey casey
Welcome to the wire. Sing the parts you like and keep
silent when you care to. When one bird flies you need
not. When night falls do not mistake the fingers pointing for the moon.

Cheers Fortunato

Casey - my suggestion would be read back through some of the older posts, follow the links, and don't neglect the "tavern" or "songbook" threads.....

Hi, Casey. This is a great site. You probably don't need to be advised that the folks here can be a bit nutty sometimes.

Welcome to the Mudcat, Casey. Glad you decided to join in!

You could go to the Quick Links, open the pull down menu, choose BBC's Mudcat Resources Page, and see what she and her son, David, have kindly placed at our disposal there. You will find individual Mudcat and Mudcat event photos, email addys, and profiles, all submitted by those Mudcatters who wanted to share a bit more about themselves, including when their birthdays are.

If you have any more questions, be sure to ask. Oh, and don't miss live Mudcat Radio, Wednesdays at 7pm Eastern (US) where you will get to see and hear Bert & Max, as well as heard the music of udder Mudders.

All the best,

katlaughing

Hi Casey,

Always glad to welcome somebody with similar musical interests — sometimes the Celtic content here gets a little overwhelming, but we learn to live with it cause some of them are pretty good people anyway. ;-)).

Actually there are several other things you might want to look into. BBC has set up a site that has a lot of info about other Mudcatters — pics, bios, etc. You can pick and choose what you want to share.

Just go to the Quick Links at the top of the thread and pull down to BBC's Resources. That'll get you in there.

cheers,

david

Hi everybody !

I just have registered, after having read these messages, and "fed up with GUEST".

My last "name" was "GUEST:vaubaill@format.obspm.fr" I discovered this forum, by searching lyrics of Irish songs. Well, I am french (half normand and half britain), and fond of every celtic music, gospels, and finger picking guitar. (does anybody know the regreted Marcel DADI ?).

It is a pleasure to be one of yours ! Read you soon !

Jeremie.

Hi Casey,

Glad to see you here and I hope you enjoy your time with the other residents of the 'home' . . . Please check out the Mudcat Songbook when you have a minute or hour or day or two so you can see what kind of wonderful creative folks we have here. (You can also access the Songbook through the 'Quick Links' menu at the top of the page).

As some of us (yours truly included) tend to wax vague with our references from time to time, please feel free to ask us what the heck we're talking about if we get too bad. ;-)

Welcome, welcome, welcome -- as our most revered leader, Max, likes to say, to the Mudcat and I hope you're here for a long time. Oh, and just ignore ddw's crack about the 'Celtic' thing -- he's just jealous!

All the best, Áine

Hi All! Thanks for the warm welcome. My favorite roots artists are Son House, Tampa Red, and Lighting Hopkins. (not limited to these).

My current obsessions are Chris Whitley (outstanding songwriter/poet/singer), Catfish Keith, John Mooney, and a KID named Derek Trucks.

imo...We owe a bug debt to Alan Lomax.

I'm off to check out the songbook!

Thanks Again! Casey

A Shorcha, maith thú! That's exactly right!

And welcome to all our 'newbies' (and Hi! Angun!) -- I know you'll all like it here -- you might even *love* it here like so many of us do!!

And Jeremie -- My grandmother's family are Cajuns from Louisiana -- I know that's not *real* French, but, it's a wonderful culture that I'm very proud to have just a little connection with!

Welcome to you, too, Angun and Troll! Thanks for letting us know about yourselves.

For information on where Mudcatters are, please go to the Quick Links, click on the pull down menu, choose BBC's Mudcat Resources and click on GO. When you get there, take a look at her Mudcat Locator page. It will tell you where a lot of us are.

Angun, as Alison said, we do have some Mudcatters living in France and some who are French or descended from French. My husband is a "LaFrance" whose ancestors came to the US from Canada.

Angun, please, tell us more of Norway and the music scene there. It is very exciting to have more people join in from so many different places! Actually, we'd love to hear more from all of you<>/b> about your music etc.

Welcome and all the best,

katlaughing
