Net congestion, buffering, disconnect over and over and over, darn it!

Max, I called my ISP, they said net congestion was because too many of us were trying to listen at once? That it had nothing to do with my phone lines? Does that sound right to you?

kat, that is an absolute lie. I monitor all traffic out of here, and even on our busiest show, we never used a third of my pipe. Of course your ISP is going to tell you that. There are many factors involved though. Your traveling through about 5 to 10 network on your way to mine, so any one of them could be acting up. Sometimes if you disconnect then reconnect, you can get a new route, but not always.

I lost it once but got it back -- occasional buffering interruptions but no other disconnects.

Thanks, Max, that's kind of what I had figured and I had NEVER heard that before.

I have reconnected about every 2 minutes, literally, so short of hunting down those other 5-10 networks, I guess I'll have to listen to the archive.

Last week was clear as a bell and never lost the connection, no congestion, nothing.

great show again Max!!!!! kat...I have "net congestion" problems here as well......another catter suggested going to "Play" on the toolbar ...clicking on "Stop" and then clicking on "Play" again. Has been working well and quickly here to reconnect. Hope that helps!!

Apparently the .ram file isn't there
You can get it by opening your Real Player, and going to File then Open Location and typing in
media.mudcat.org/episode20.rm

nice mellow show! The "permenant thread" idea sounds great. Might I suggest that they be put on a seperate page with a PROMINANT link in the quicklinks? Another thought, that NEW permanent threads couldn't be created by the run-of-the-mill poster, is that possible? Can posting to specific threads be limited?
