I'm curious about some instructional videos for fiddle and wondered if anyone at the mudcat has had any experience with them. They're expensive, but some claim to cover alot of things I'm interested in improving, (vibrato, trills, back-ups, etc). One by Kevin Burke looks especially interesting. Let me know what you think.

PS My fiddle teacher will only do group lessons and I can't find a good private teacher (yet!). I want to move on. Cheers, Nancy

My husband is wondering the same. I know he is enjoying some self-instrux books he has which include CD's to illustrate the desired results. Perhaps the members of your group lesson could go in together to buy a video, and meet as a group separate from the teacher to use it, and then just enjoy some free play time with each other and share tips.

Also another essential for all instruments seems to be to just find anyone to play with, who plays any instrument, and do whatever you are able to do together. It raises what you have learned to a whole different level, and so does playing with others who play the same instrument as you-- most players at every level are glad to share what they do, and to give you quick tips to go practice at home til next time.

Well if you want to learn from one of the best, go here .

Also, Vassar Clements now has his own website. There's also an interesting photo and description of HIS fiddle.
