I am vaguely aware of the twelve or so pounds of cat which has anchored itself in an elegant drape across my hip as I try to drift back into my dreams. Trying to turn over, in a more comfortable shift of legs, pillows, arms, and cat, I finally give up and heave-ho to the cat's disgust, rearranging my accoutrements of sleep. The dreams become elusive, but as I struggle awake and realise a few minutes up and about will be worth a few more hours of sleep, I remember one extraordinary thing about all of the dreams. They were in the form of threads, like the Mudcat discussion forum. Oh, not that formal in arrangement, but as I went from one to another and back, I was *clicking* in to each, catching up on the latest event unfolding. Each so real, each inevitably blending until I am struggling to keep the cat and all who attend, with me, from scene to scene. After the magic realm of Oz, I awake and recall, like Dorothy pointing to her Auntie Em and the farmhands, "You were there, Spaw; and, you, Leej; and, you, and you...." I laugh at myself, "Checking on the Mudcat just a quick bit before bedtime each night has brought me to this!" The cat and I drift off back to sleep.

Checking on the 'Cat just before bed time is a bit like checking iin on the wee ones; tuck in the blankets, a light kiss goodnight, a soft smile at the wonderment of it all. Sweet dreams! The blending of different realities.

Dreams are weird. They seem to bring out things that are on your mind. I've been considering moving, lately. Last night, I dreamed we had moved to a new house, that's OK. But the main focus of the dream was that the house had all wood floors, so my vacuum cleaner would be useless. And that I sold my good dust mop at a yard sale a while back. I solved the problem by deciding to buy large area rugs, thus justifying my vacuum cleaner. Dreams are really weird!

Dreams can be natures' way of telling us to get a life!! I spent rather a lot of time on here a while back, browsing and contributing, and after about 3 weeks of very late nights, when the chat was too good to miss (much to the detriment of my phone bill), I started to dream about the people here..... Bert, you really must get rid of that bum haircut, 'Spaw, you need to stop doing that, it will make you go blind, and Max, I think we need to have a really serious chat if you are going to carry on with THAT.....

Two months working for the IRS (Inland Revenue), with less time on the Cat here, and the dreams have gone.... Pity really, you guys really boosted my ego!! If I promise to eat cheese last thing at night, will you all come back into my dreams? Well, maybe not all of you, Spaw, that really is a solo sport....

When I suffer from a long spell of insomnia (so far, this one's lasted since early March!) I lose my memory of dreams. I sleep in short fragments, then wake for 2 or 3 hours, and sometimes sleep again- I miss my dreams the most, even tho I've learned to greet insomnia as an old friend- sometimes it's the only solitude in my life!

Dreams have always been a place for me to process things and to release old issues.
When I was younger, I would always dream of being chased by some wild animal.
Then as I got older, I learned how to calm down the wild animal that was chasing me and I was able to place a collar and leash on it.
Lately my dreams have been about going to the bathroom, or looking for a bathroom. I am always taking a crap.
Guess I am getting rid of a lot of sh*t in my life.

Little Neo

I hear ya. We have a couple of little dogs (Yorkie-Poos, 10 & 12 lbs.) for teddie-bears. It's way too easy to snuggle & cuddle the morning away... missed church again today, rolling out finally @ 0900. Laaaazy!!

Dreams... had one once where i was playing the tuba, having a blast. Borrowed a friend's euphonium (sort of like a tenor horn) and it IS a lot of fun! (ever try playing a brass instrument while laughing hystericly at oneself??)

I've met Angels, talked with Jesus in dreams. that'll make an impression, ubetcha!

"When a man's dreams die, he won't tarry long in following them to the grave."

Most of mine are in the rear-view mirror; trying to jump-start a few of them. A little concerned about what may result if they won't turn over. One consolation; the dogs (Maggie McGhee and Angus MacBaer) will likely still love me. Hug your cat for me, luv; they are a blessing.

There is much BS in re the meaning of dreams, but some views seem to have more credibility about them than others. One view that has the capacity to generate some consternation is that our individual dreams may not always be for or about ourselves; i.e.; we might sometimes have dreams meant for someone else. These sorts of things seem a bit far out in "western" culture, but cultures (or, I suppose, sub-cultures) more open to elements of shamanism seem less bothered about such things and tend to view them with a greater degree of acceptance. Hmmm!

Paddymac, I've always felt thus aout some dreams. Oftentimes they are just a reflection and/or *working out* of a problem I've been consternated over; actualy just ME getting out of the way and letting my subconscious work it out. BUT, I have also had some very profound dreams of meaning for myself and others, esp. other family members.

BlueJay, ever heard of my favourite bumper sticker: My Other Car IS A Broom? Depending on where i am at at the time, I sometimes have to tell people it does NOT mean I am a Domestic Engineer!

LILNeo, you make me laugh with sheer joy! Your honesty to yourself is inspiring, darlin'!

LtS....you're supposed to sleep and dream at work, right? That's why you haven't seen much of us.**BG**

Animaterra...having been a beneficiary, I know what good works you do in those wee hour times, but I do hope you get some good winks in between.

DaveTAM, always, darlin', always.

Mbo, nice quote, sweetie.

Uncle Jaque, welcome to the Mudcat! I enjoyed your posting and, believe me, my cats, all 7 of them, get lots and lots of hugs from me. I love them all so much. Saw in another of your postings some references to northern NH. My Rog is of French Canadian stock up that way, too....LOTS of relatives. If you join the Mudcat and become a member, which costs nothing, we could send personal messages to one another, plus there are a bunch of other neat bennies to joining.

You guys are a blast! Thanks,

katlaughing

Kat, I use to have this recurring dream, well more like a nightmare, where I was trying to make my way across a deep gorge on a rope bridge that required me to balance on two ropes high above a raging river. I would invariably awake with a start, at the most perilous part of it, to find the small calico that shared the house trying desperately to balance herself on my shins.

I enjoy my dreams immensely. They are as solid as brick to me at times, meaning vivid and involving and real. I just haven't figured out what happens when I wake up...that's the transition that doesn't make sense sometimes!

LMAOWROTF!!! Thanks for THAT mental image, Frankie! I've had cats try to do that when I've got my legs stuck out like pegs on the footstool while sitting! Never quite thought of it in that perspective! O, what chasms, vast and deep, eh?!**BG**
