(apr.12)A beautiful surprise for an April day, snow everywhere, and in the park, ravishing surrealisms abound. Rows of yellow daffodils buried in whiteness, strange colours you never see -- bright yellow, rich green, against white snow. Early pinks and blues inundated with swirls of snow, like some demented birthday cake decorated with candies. It will all be melting tomorrow, so the plants have probably little to fear. Everyone on the bus fumes, complains -- "I thought we were done with winter" -- but the sun is warm, so no one is complaining too much, and the white swirls shimmer. And I missed almost all the winter, being ill, and here is a gift, a last snowfall, I am sure for me personally, inconveniencing millions for my benefit.

Peter...thanks for the reminder that I do like winter and for the "attitude readjustment" this am. Before reading your posting, I WAS disappointed this morning to find that spring was only teasing last week.

We had a bit of a surprise Sunday morning here in Maryland. Saturday we had been running around in T-shirts and woke up to an inch of snow on the ground Sunday. Not upset, just marvelling at the contrast from one day to the next. Nice to see that other people view it the same way. However, the cold fronts that keep coming through are screwing up my limited fishing opportunities!

Better than the dreary October day we've had here in London today - even I felt cold, and I wear sandals all year round!!

Hyp, I love summer and hate the cold, but I'll let you get away with liking Sunday Morning - It was beautiful. We had about four inches of snow and we just had to go out for a drive and look at all the trees.

I don't know when it happened - I guess it was when I was a kid and we has that drought in the UK in 76 then those huge snows about 78-79. I just remeber always being hot and bothered in 76 as against the beautiful white landscape and frost-smoke breath days of that snowy winter. I'm just happy when it's dry-cold, (wet-cold's a real mare!)...

Guess I'm just topsy-turvy.
