Any Mudcat in the Islands?

OK, this may be strictly motivated by my recent vent in the "Elian" thread, and I really meant the Carribbean Islands (didn't want to mis-spell it in the header though) but has there ever been a Mudcatter from Jamaica or Barbados or St Kitts, or Haiti, or even.....Cuba!!?

I get such a kick out of Skarpi using English, which must be at times bloody difficult, or Simon-Pierre (I even made an attempt at answering a personal note from him in French...and he was damn gracious)

Makes me wonder if some lurker from the Islands may have wanted to check in occasionally but found the two prominent languages here (English and Gaelic) a bit daunting. T'would be fun though.

I should have asked whether any Mexican or Nicarauguan folks have ever visited as well.(and any other countries around there that I can't think of at the moment.

Sometime I wish that someone out there coult write something in Icelandic.Oh by the way I am taking up the song tomorrow so I will able to send to you the tape next week. Rick, I made the mistake of thinking my son-in-law, from Antigua, would be bi-lingual. Not so, raised in a strictly British atmosphere, although with a certain Island patois mixed in, nothing more than we've seen in the Colloquialisms threads, so, darlin' just remember there are British Carribean islands where English is the first language.

This is so very interesting, though, I hope some Mudders from there do show up. I just finished James Michenor's book, Carribean. While fictionalised, his research was exhaustive, and he does mix some non-fiction into all parts, explaining which is which. He also includes a great bibliography. I learned so much from reading it, of the history of the "Spanish Lake". My son-in-law is eager to read it now.

Hi Callie. Nahh, all us Aussies, Canucks, Brits and Yanks are buddies around here now. I'm trying to see if there are any potentially exotic Catters lurkin' around. I don't even know if ANY folksinger in the Islands is on the net. I think we've got one in Norway, and someone on Sark.....ohhhh, how 'bout a Roooskie? Any Russians ever post?
