Subject: Hyphenated last names From: MarkS Date: 14 Apr 00 - 10:37 PM Since we are having so much fun with the colloquialism thread, thought it might be fun to try something else. The growing custom of the female in a marriage of using a hyphenated last name instead of taking the males last name leads to all kinds of interesting possibilities. In my school class, Ms. Linda Poore was an item with Mr. Richard House. If they would marry...... Any other ideas? |

Subject: RE: BS: Hyphenated last names From: Gary T Date: 16 Apr 00 - 01:16 AM So what happens when two hyphenated folks want to marry, especially if they both strongly believe in hyphenating? Their great grandkids' names would reach to the moon and back. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hyphenated last names From: Susan A-R Date: 19 Apr 00 - 10:22 PM Well Rats, we're the Arnowitt-Reids, the Arnowitts for Michael's music career, the Reids when we order pizza, the whole shovel full when dealing with annoying telemarketers, and oh, you should see the misspellings on our fridge, Arnowellherd, Arnosevelt . . . We thought of being the Reidowitts, or the Arnoreids, but it just didn't seem right. Mostly we just use our own. Michael swears he went to school with someone named Claire Annette Reid, and there is, of course the Ima Hogg piano competition in Texas. Then there's my cousin Candice (candy) married to Hamilton (Ham) nice combination, don't you think. |
