A friend gave me music and lyrics for "Jackaroe" I'm trying to find the book it came from. The lyrics are identical lyrics to the DT #331 version. Clues: 1- it is on page 80 and 81 of the book it was copied from. 2- At the top of the page there is a short paragraph about this song genre(woman masquerading as man to search for lover) 3- under the paragraph, on one line: Key: D minor, Capo: 5th, Play: A minor (Laws N 7) 4- under that is a picture of a woman holding her wounded lover 5- The music is in the 3 stave melody and piano accomp. format, with guitar chords written above. thanks

OK, Steve, so I goes to the University of Tennessee Knoxville Song Index, which says it's in the Joan Baez Songbook (which is still in print, by the way). So, then I goes to the shelf and pulls out the battered Baez songbook, and there on pages 80 and 81, is the song.
Next question?

Brilliant as usual. Two hours though, Joe, you must stop trying to sleep as well as being the song book king!

But look at the times of the question and the answer! Question asked at 3:09 a.m., for pete's sake. Joe posted his answer at 5.07 a.m.! It looks as though Joe jumped out of bed at 5 in the morning and rushed to boot up the Mudcat, find a question that needed a response, and in seven minutes had the answer. If the question had been asked at a reasonable time of day, Joe's response might have broken his previous record. Give him a break!

Sandy

I have the book somewhere, too. If you get stuck, call again.
