Hello Children Everywhere!

Can anybody come up with the words for the Deadwood Stage. Last heard being played on the wireless whilst laying in bed on a Saturday Morning the programme was called "childrens favourites" way back in the 1960's

- a amost wonderful song about a stage coach coming over the hill with the whip cracking away etc. I think it may have been sung by Doris Day.

I know it's not a Folk song as such, but it is part of folk memory. I need them for a party piece that I'm planning.

Many thanks for your help Glen.

Oh the deadwood stage is a-rollin' on over the plains With the windows a flappin and the driver aslappin his reins, 23 miles, we've convered today So whip crack away, whip crack away, whip crack away. It goes on like that. A dreadful song. Yes, it's by Doris Day, in the movie "Calamity Jane." -- love, Harold

I only remember the first verse. (I played Adelaid Adams in Calamity Jane, but it's been awhile since then.)

Oh, the Deadwood Stage is a rollin' on over the plains
With the curtains flappin' and the driver a slappin' the reins
Beautiful sky
A wonderful day
Whip crack away, whip crack away, whip crack away

A later verse has the "23 miles/ we've covered today".
