Dear Linda,

The recent NW Folklife Festival was totally wonderful, as always, but I must say, your concert was the very best thing I attended there! I didn't envy your soundman, the way we the audience kept drowning you out on all the choruses!

I have always had a fantasy of being able to sit down with you and get you to tell me all your stories. Having you here in the Mudcat Cafe may well be that dream coming true!

How long have you been at it and when and where did you get your start? Who were your teachers and what were your girlish dreams and how many have come true, how many have evaborated, and how many are you still working on?

Bless you for your love and courage. - Croney

PS- Your daughter Jen is something too! I am very happy for you.

Hi, Croney - Thanks so much for writing! I had a wonderful time at Folklife. One of my favorite things is performing with one or both of my daughters, who are launching their own career as a duo. And Folklife is one of my favorite places to perform -- the audiences are the BEST! I started my work as a songwriter thirty years ago in the Bay area -- grounded in the politics and spirit of that time --and I've never looked back. My mentors were Malvina Reynolds, Pete Seeger, Faith Petric, Joan Baez, and so many others who believed you could change the world with a song. My "girlish dreams"? I guess I'm living them. I love my work. And I hope to keep doing it for many, many more years. And I love the Northwest, and am glad to be living here. Thanks again for your wonderful comments. It's what keeps me doing what I do. Very best wishes, Linda Allen
