Mudcatters in or passing through) the Chicago area:
Beginning on July 1, 2000 I will be hosting an acoustic open stage at the Vail St. Cafe, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Sign in at 7:30; music from 8:00 - 10:00'ish. Arlington Heights is a suburb northwest of Chicago. The place is nice, the coffee is very good, and all 'Catters are (needless to say)welcome. The cafe has been there for years, and always had great music before local construction made it difficult to continue. Now it is under new management and will have acoustic music on the weekends on a regular basis. I hope to see lots of you sometimes, or some of you lots of times, or however that works. . .

Bartholomew: Best of luck with your concert. I'm not familiar with the venue but I did live in Evanston from 1967-1969 and thought it was cool. Again good luck and give my best reguartds to the windy city. Neil

I'm not clear from what you said above as to what night(s) your open mike is held. Every night? Saturday and Sunday night? Saturday? When?

Directions, or at least a street address would be good too.

Duh - I guess in my rush to get out the door I left out some important information. The details:
The Vail St. Cafe
19 North Vail (1 blk West of Arlington Hts Rd. & 1 blk South of Northwest Highway)
Arlington Hts., Illinois (USA)
Phone: 847-392-1164
open stage; the first Saturday of every month, starting July 1st
7:30 sign-in, music from 8:00 until 10:00.
This will be an acoustic open mic, PA and mics will be provided. Electric instruments are OK, but no stacks of Marshalls, please. Small ensembles w/Drummers are welcome, but no full kits.

The Vail St. Cafe will be having a variety of acoustic music, poetry and other entertainments on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 - 10. The coffeehouse can stay open later and the music might go longer, if things are going well. No cover. Coffee, tea and great sweets are sold. Tips are welcome.

Thanks for your kiind words, Neil. I will let you all know how things are going. Peace.

It is a nice area. Well, at least it was when I was growing up in that general area (Glen Ellyn). Good luck!
