Subject: RE: Help: No hearme tonight? From: Little Neophyte Date: 03 Jul 00 - 08:31 AM Well guys, like kat says I am not a Hearme virgin anymore. I played a jig I made up for Catspaw called Pat's White Socks House Carpenter Shady Grove I Will and sang Tails and Trotters What an experience. This will be a real inspiration for me to learn new songs so I can share them with everyone. I must thank Jon Freeman for making this a reality in my life. If it were not for him I would still be playing to the audience of my three teddy bears. I am going to write a song and dedicate it to Jeri. It will be called 'Where Have All The Salmon Heads Gone' Bonnie |
Subject: RE: Help: No hearme tonight? From: SDShad Date: 03 Jul 00 - 10:10 AM Bonnie! You did House Carpenter and I missed it! Hope you don't mind if I ask you to repeat it at another session. A few things stand out from last night: Ivan, "Constant Lovers" was marvelous; I loved two particular songs that Den and Dave O sang, but can't remember what their titles were. Anyone remember 'em? And of course, I'm happy every time Mbo sings "39," my favorite among favorites of Queen songs. And I'm startin' to think I need to look into some Oasis CDs one of these eons. Cool stuff. My Mom was visiting, and we hung out in Beth's office for HearMe. Mom really loved the whole experience (esp Aine's Gaelic poem!). I hope we can get her to come back to both HearMe and the 'Cat one of these days. I sang (with a little help from Mom and Beth):
When my sister an niece arrived, after HearMe was done, at grandma's encouragement I sang "Welcome To Our House" for my niece. Predictably, my sister looked slightly uncomfortable but laughed a little, and my niece was giggling the whole time. Then I sang "A Place in the Choir" for her, and everyone giggled. I need to do that one at HearMe some time, but you really need little kids around for that one to help out with the moos and howls. First time I ever sang "Draft Dodger Rag" in public was at an open mic at a college bar (not necessarily what you'd call a folk forum). There were several short-haired ROTC types who were scowling at me when they heard the title and the first line or two. By the second verse they were chuckling, and by the end laughing uncontrollably.... Great noises one and all. Thanks for entertaining my Mama so.... Chris |
Subject: RE: Help: No hearme tonight? From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 03 Jul 00 - 12:01 PM After being away for maybe a week and a half, I was relieved to get back to HearMe. SDShad, the title(s) of the song(s) you were interested in should be in this list of what I sang: Chester (a martial hymn, from the American revolutionary war, by William Billings.) Beans, Bacon & Gravy Never Wed an Old Man The Young Farmer and The Next Big River (a cowboy song) Mbo, that was an uncharacteristically short list. Wassamatta, cat get your tongue? Dave Oesterreich

Subject: RE: Help: No hearme tonight? From: Little Neophyte Date: 03 Jul 00 - 06:53 PM I would also like to thank katlaughing because if it were not for kat, I also would have never made the effort to break through my fears and share my music with others on Hearme. Thanks kat, I am still savouring the evening. Bonnie |

Subject: RE: Help: No hearme tonight? From: Bill D Date: 03 Jul 00 - 08:21 PM well, I enlivened the evening with "Black, White, Yellow & Green"..(the Plum Pudding song)...and a bit of "Goober Peas" for Jon... |
Subject: RE: Help: No hearme tonight? From: Áine Date: 03 Jul 00 - 08:32 PM Dear Chris, The song I particularly loved that Den sang was "The Next Market Day". Would you believe that out of the 100+ Irish CDs I have, not one of them has that beautiful song on it? So, I'm going out tomorrow to buy one of Anam's first CDs that has the song on it. And here's a great big hug and kiss for you Den, for sending the lyrics for 'Market Day' to me. I can't wait to figure out the chords on my guitar and the tab for my mandolin for it. And here's a big hug and kiss for you AND your lovely Mother, Chris! (Couldn't leave y'all out now, could I? *BG*) |
