Subject: Wanted: English Fiddle Tunes From: Ed Pellow Date: 06 Aug 00 - 02:35 PM I've just been reading the online Waterson:Carthy newsletter, in which Eliza puts in a plea that she "would like to hear from anyone who has any good English traditional tunes that she hasn't come across yet" Who knows which tunes she hasn't come across yet... but there are certainly loads of cracking tunes that she hasn't played. Anyone who wants to offer suggestions should contact her here Hey, you might get a mention on the next CD! I'd be grateful if you'd also post suggestions here. Ed (listening to 'Band of the Rising Sun' who play several wonderful English fiddle tunes) |

Subject: RE: Wanted: English Fiddle Tunes From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 06 Aug 00 - 03:19 PM I doubt if I know of any sources that Eliza hasn't already come across, but for the benefit of others, one particularly valuable resource is The Village Music Project. I can also recommend these collections: South Riding Tunebooks, Tunes, Songs and Dances from the 1798 manuscript of Joshua Jackson and Lincolnshire Collections Vol.1: The Joshua Gibbons Manuscript Malcolm |
