Subject: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: MMario Date: 28 Aug 00 - 10:16 AM wow! MudCat comes through again. Friday as I logged off for a weekend away, I figured we needed about 94 songs in order to get below the 3000 mark on the unfound tune list. I suggested maybe "we" could manage it before Dick and Susan got back from England; which would be today. AND THEY DID IT!!!!!!! I'm not going to name names for fear I will leave someone out, but you know who you are. WELL DONE! Pat yourselves on the back, go get a snogging from your favorite person. Celebrate! And a hearty "THANK YOU" to Alan of Oz and Joe Offer who have both had their hands full dealing with the results of the searching. As soon as I manage to finish updating the files I will post the full complete "Found Tunes" list as of this date... |

MMario, while I love that someone took me up on the suggesiton of UN, this is such a noteworthy event and effort that I don't think it is fair to call it UN nor BS! I DO think it is FANFAWKINGTASTIC and you all deserve a

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: GUEST,Mbo_at_ECU Date: 28 Aug 00 - 01:02 PM Mario, I really am still working on mine! Just like to send them in bulk. I only have 6 done so far, but with this semester, there's not much free time! Good thing about them is you can knock off a large amount of tunes in a short period of time. Keep lookin', I'll get 'em in when I can... |
|
Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: MMario Date: 28 Aug 00 - 01:05 PM How can you help? There are so many ways.... Working from the listing, you could check the forum to see if the tune has been posted and just hasn't been "spotted. Maybe the tune for song "x" isn't there, but you know it's the same as song "y" which is, but no one's made the connection. Say so! (That's what all those - see such-and-such are about) Or you have a tune in a songbook we are missing. No way to make a midi, don't know ABC? Got a scanner? e-mail a gif to someone who can make a midi....No scanner? xerox it and snail mail it! Or maybe you know someone could make the midi file for you. Collaberate!

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: MMario Date: 28 Aug 00 - 01:07 PM oops! almost forgot... you can also "spot" midi files and abc files that are out on the web....BruceO has a lot of tunes and if someone had the time to compare what he HAS with what the DT lacks |

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Aug 00 - 01:14 PM Mario, you have congratulated and expressed appreciation for the many involved in this, but let me express my appreciation to you for your not insignificant efforts in pursuing this and keeping the topic and the project out front in the threads and for all the coordination work you have done so well. Thank You. Spaw |

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: Sorcha Date: 28 Aug 00 - 01:21 PM Hey, I needed a new obsession!! And this one has a great point!! Wouldn't it be neat if we could find ALL the missing tunes? WOW! And, I would like to suggest that in the future, if you are posting new lyrics, please, please include the tune if you have it. As Mario says, just snail mail the music to Snuffy or myslef, or anyone who can MIDI or ABC. And you are already behind again, Mario. Snuffy and I both just put up new tunes.............!!!!! |

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: Joe Offer Date: 28 Aug 00 - 01:34 PM Say, I'm looking for somebody to transcribe the tune from Judy Cook's wonderful recording of "Oh, I Was Born" - it's in this thread. Thanks for all the tunes, guys. They're driving me bonkers, but it sure is a grand way to go crazy. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: Bearheart Date: 28 Aug 00 - 02:30 PM What if you have a song not in the data base and you'd like to see it added because it's obscure but really nice, but you are really bad at notation and can't do the high tech thing. Is there someone who could do the musical notation/midi thing from a tape? |
|
Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: MMario Date: 28 Aug 00 - 02:35 PM JOe - I suspect someone will PM you.... Bearheart - there are people who can (and will - at least sometimes) transcribe from tape. It's not the easiest task in the world, but someone may come forward and volunteer to help you. |
|
Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: katlaughing Date: 28 Aug 00 - 03:52 PM I can do it, Bearheart, just PM me with details etc. I can even help you figure out how to make a digital file right on your computer, providing you have a sound card and microphone and then you could just email it to me. It is not as hard as it may seem.:-) Joe, I am sorry I haven't gotten Rosa's Daughters NWC version to you, yet. Will try to get to it this week. kat |

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: Irish sergeant Date: 28 Aug 00 - 06:10 PM Great job to all of you involved especially you MMArio. I do try to post songs as I find them but i guess I'll have to figure out how to midi or some one who does. Hate to sound ignorant but what is snogging? 've been seeing the term since I looged on as a wee guestie months ago and wondered but didn't want to seem stupid.Kindest reguards, Neil |

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: Mary in Kentucky Date: 28 Aug 00 - 08:41 PM Hi Bearheart, I can easily make a midi of the melody line from sheet music (~10 minutes). I can listen to a tape and transcribe the melody line in about 30 minutes. I'd be glad to listen to your song and give it a try. I'm not a musician but do this just for fun. Besides, I'm always looking for good tunes. You can Personal Message me for more details. The offer goes for anyone else needing a melody line midi. The problem that I had with MMario's missing tunes in the DT was that so often the words were submitted to the DT from a recording, and that recording just happened to be a little different from the sheet music. I understand now why it's important to submit a midi at the same time (from same source) as the words. Mary |

Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: MMario Date: 28 Aug 00 - 10:09 PM uh-oh. Mary - you're in for it now, did you know I have a couple dozen songs that need transcribing? *grin* |
|
Subject: RE: UNBS:Holy sh*t, they did it! From: Mary in Kentucky Date: 28 Aug 00 - 10:12 PM Like I said, I prefer sheet music, but can listen to a tape and do a melody line. I'm just not very familiar with ABC. |
