Subject: INFO REQ: Irisheer From: MaurineSel@AOL.com via Jon W Date: 14 Aug 97 - 03:59 PM Maurine posted this in another thread - thought I'd get it out in the open for her - Jon W. Lookign for a tune- Inisheer? Is it old, new? Heard it on a tape and love the beauty of it. Any help appreciated. BTW- My Mother and three younger sisters sang together a lot, I remember many happy times singing while waiting in the car for Dad to finish a poker game. |

Subject: RE: INFO REQ: Irisheer From: GUEST,Roger Date: 07 May 00 - 11:46 AM I too heard the tune Inisheer played in a wonderful pub on the west coast of Ireland last year (Road ford/Doolin). The young woman playing it did not know its name. I have since heard a tin whistle player play it and he told me it is called Inisheer (Inis Oirr) named after an island off the coast from Doolin co.Clare. I have a copy of the tune he recorded but I read music rather than play by ear so I would like a written copy of the tune. I was told it was a new(ish) tune? |

Subject: RE: INFO REQ: Irisheer From: Roger in Sheffield Date: 08 May 00 - 12:11 PM Thank you Malcolm I cannot believe that some one took the time to help me out so quickly! I have been practicing Inisheer all day from the tune in tunefinder; and tonight I will share it with my tin whistle class. So far I have tried two of the versions in tunefinder and I like them both in different ways. Anyway thanks again Malcolm Cheers!! |
