Subject: Battlefield Band Concert From: DonMeixner Date: 24 Sep 00 - 06:19 PM I couldn't go to a Battlefield Band concert in Ithaca ,NY last nite so I sent my kids instead. They returned, impressed, converted, and ready for more. Now if only me and loved ones could have attended Irish 2000 as well. Ah, me. Don |

Subject: RE: BS: Battlefield Band Concert From: TheMuse Date: 24 Sep 00 - 07:38 PM Well, since Don brought it up, I DID go to Irish 2000 and I returned impressed and ready for more, too! I was totally overwhelmed with the quantity of music that was available. Impossible to take it all in. However, all is not lost for those of us in the NY, PA area for seeing the Battlefield Band before next year. They are playing next weekend (Sept 29 - Oct 1) at the Celtic Classic Festival in Bethlehem, Pa. Along with Seamus Kennedy, Tabache and a whole bunch of others. Check out www.celticfest.org Any takers on this one? TheMuse |

Subject: RE: BS: Battlefield Band Concert From: Naemanson Date: 24 Sep 00 - 09:24 PM The first time we had the Battlefield Band at the Chocolate Church I went with two friends. One of them was into heavy metal rock & roll and the other wasn't much into music. The latter friend was impressed but not enough to pursue it. The rocker bought two CD's and came back the followng year. The band is now an annual event at the Chocolate Church. The following year I dragged my kids off to see the band. They went to please their dreary old Dad and listen to the boring old music. They came out with stars in their eyes and CD's clutched in their hot little fists. And every time they looked at the picture of wee Johnny McCusker they seemed to go into some kind of deep breathing exercizes. This year my older daughter is in college and cursing the fact that she couldn't make it to the show. I could only take my younger daughter with me. she still loves the band and still seems to have the same reaction to wee Johnny. |

Subject: RE: BS: Battlefield Band Concert From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 25 Sep 00 - 12:22 AM Dharmabum, the musical events are free as well. I't one of the country's best festivals. There's a great wee band out of Texas called Clandestine who will be performing there as well. Any Mudcatters going, come on up and say 'Hi." All the best Seamus Kennedy |

Haven't heard Battlefield band since she joined them (curses that I missed them at one of the local folk clubs before they went on tour:-( ). Scott |
