Subject: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: SDShad Date: 24 Sep 00 - 07:41 PM Beth (Hypatia) and I will be travelling from our home in South Dakota to Island Park, ID (just a little ways west of Yellowstone Park) in about a week to get together with her sister and brother-in-law at a cabin rental there. We'll be getting there on Monday, October 2, and our relatives on Tuesday, so we'd like to try to host a little bit of a hootenany/barbecue/shindig/what-have-you Monday evening for any Mudcatters in the area who'd like to pop over, down or up to Island Park. PM me or post to the thread if you'd like to get together! Chris |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: Alice Date: 24 Sep 00 - 07:48 PM ooooh so close. I'll be at a cabin near Helena for a music get together with friends that weekend, then I can't take off from work in Bozeman Mon or Tues. Wish I could make it, though, Chris. Alice in Montana |

I'd love to drive down from the Silver Valley. There's no way I could make it on Monday or Tuesday. My finances are still reeling from 3 weeks off work to go to Strawberry Music Festival. rr |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: SDShad Date: 26 Sep 00 - 11:42 AM Hypatia says: "Well, poo!" But seriously, 's'allright. It is pretty short notice and a weeknight to boot. We will be there until the following Saturday morning, but here's the setup. We haven't seen Beth's sister and brother-in-law in person for about 12 years, since before we were married. He has terminal cancer, so we want to be spending as much quality time as we can with just the four of us, as we may not have many (if any) more such good opportunities. It's really pretty much the first motivation for the trip. So I'm following Beth's lead on the whole family-time thing, since this is her family, and her feeling is this: we'll kind of get the "feel of the room" when we are all out there on that Tuesday, and if it looks like a Friday night get-together might be a possibility, we'll dial up and pop on that night and let y'all know. Monday was the only night where we knew we had the run of the place ourselves, and were sure we could get together with folks. We'll have to play it by ear for Friday (Oct. 6), but will keep y'all posted. Hey kat (or Sorcha, or anyone else along the way in WY), if you're reading this thread, how far from I90 do you live? Maybe we could at least grab a cup of Joe with ya on our way across Wyoming. Chris |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: rangeroger Date: 26 Sep 00 - 10:53 PM SDShad, sounds like you may have your time filled while you're there. I have a class on Saturday, so I actually couldn't make it down.Of course if you came a few days early, like this weekend.......? I imagine you're going to head south on I-15 from I-90.I say this because I-90 is about 1/4 mile north of my house in Smelterville. However, I-15 is about a 3 hour drive for me. Maybe sometime we can get the Idaho,Montana,Wyoming, and South Dakota Mudcat contingient together. rr |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: SDShad Date: 27 Sep 00 - 10:44 AM Capital idea, rr. We're figuring if we like this cabin, we'll probably be back in future years. The Black Hills might be well-suited to a Northern Mountains Mudcatpalooza as well. Unfotunately, we'll be parting company with I-90 long before Montana or Idaho--I think we'll probably be heading west out of Sheridan, and through Cody, the Park, and W. Yellowstone into Idaho. Although Mapquest and Expedia seem to disagree as to what's the shortest route. Can't come any earlier, either. I'm working until Friday, and the cabin in Idaho ain't cheap, either. Pretty good price considering, but not cheap with no relatives with whom to split the fee.... Some day, though. Beth's never been to Yellowstone before (been all over the Western mountains, but not there), nad I bet she'll just fall in love with it. So rr, what fun/beautiful places do you know of to visit in the Targhee National Forest? Chris |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: katlaughing Date: 27 Sep 00 - 10:53 AM SDSHAD, Casper is about 2 hours south of Sheridan, and I95 runs right through Casper, north to south. I95 also runs up through Sheridan. We might've been able to meet you for a cuppa if it was on a weekend, but not a weeknight. Now, if any of the transmitters Rog has to work on were up there, we'd definitely make it, but alas, there are none to be found up "north." Have fun and if you do feel like coming through, give me a holler. Sorcha is about 2 hours east and a little south of where I am, right near the border of Nebraska. When will you actually being going through Sheridan, either way? Thanks, kat |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: SDShad Date: 27 Sep 00 - 11:26 AM Sunday the 1st on the way out; we'll probably be staying in Cody Sunday night. Saturday the 7th on the way back, trying to get to Spearfish that night. So weekend in both instances. Buffalo might be closer for ya. Let us know if you'd like to get together for a cup and maybe a song or two on the road.... C. |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: katlaughing Date: 27 Sep 00 - 12:43 PM Oh, yeah, Buffalo is a wee bit closer. Let me talk to Rog and we'll see if it's at all doable. Thanks, Chris. kat |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: katlaughing Date: 27 Sep 00 - 09:17 PM Hi, Chris, Sunday the 1st is out 'cause I just scheduled the first all poetry HearMe for then, and I am hosting it. However *ahem*...Saturday, the 7th, in Buffalo would be a serious possibility(!), depending on weather and what time you think you'd be through there. There are some nifty little shops there that would be open with a good cuppa, I am sure. Whatever is best for you phoaks. PM me, please, or email me and we'll work it out. Kewl! kat |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: SDShad Date: 27 Sep 00 - 10:23 PM Yer on, sister! I'm off to snoozeland, but I'll PM/email/something tomorrow to work out particulars. Is there a park or something thereabouts where we could sit and have a song or two if the weather's nice? Just wouldn't be a Mudcatcupofjoe without a bit of a sing.... Looking forward to it, Chris |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: katlaughing Date: 27 Sep 00 - 10:50 PM Too kewl! I know I've been to this park, but it's been a while. Anyway, take a look at Washington Memorial Park on this page near the bottom and we'll shoot for a meeting place near it, then we could go there. There are a couple of shops up there which might not mind us just ahve a cuppa and singing a little anyway, depending on how busy they are and weather. The owner of Margo's Pottery has a cajun band and there is a store next door to there with imports and a coffee area. at least there used to be. I will call Margo's tomorrow and scope them out. G'night! This is too kewl! kat |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: katlaughing Date: 29 Sep 00 - 07:41 PM Deerfield's, across from Margo's, has expresso and an area for music!! See your PM's or email, Chris. The rest of ya, please appease the weather gawds! No snow the next two weekends! **BG** Thanks! |

Subject: RE: Gathering: Yellowstone Area Mudatters From: katlaughing Date: 06 Oct 00 - 08:15 PM HeyaChris, just sent you an email. Are we still on for tomorrow at Deerfield's? I never did get ahold of the woman there, but I am sure it won't be any kind of problem and so far the weather looks great. Thanks! kat |
