Yes, I'd agree it's a "bay horse" on the Riders in the Sky recording, but it's "Paint" on the Sons of the Pioneers version. Otherwise, the two recordings have more-or-less the same lyrics.

Cold Stove might make sense if it was a hotplate or something like that. Not needing a fire would keep it from heating the bunkhouse. It would sure be easier than wrapping up an exhausting day working the 160.

Melissa, what do you hear for the kind of stove? Best I can guess is "coal stove," although it sounds more like "cold stove."
