It's now Wednesday, here in Scotland, so if you ain't decided yet, you've obviously blown your Monday name launch. Best advice is to stick to the name you had. Renames historically sink into obscurity. Persistence with the old one wins through in the end!.........Rob

Had the same problem once, I went to the dictionary. There were Eight of us, the name that stuck was Octamerous. As ther are five of you I would be careful about using the name Pentangle, I think it has been taken. Maybe try it in Gaelic. JohnB

Well, we are thoroughly embarrassed!!! Luckily, the deadline for getting a name in was not as early as we first thought, so we were able to change the name. Thanks for bringing the other "Crann Tara's" to our attention, Aine. I don't know how they got missed in our search.

Anyway, thanks for all the great ideas. You might be right, Rob...a rename is probably a bad idea. Hopefully we'll see some of you in Arizona.

Someone I know has always wanted to start an all-woman dance band called the "Boom Chicks", but the time was never opportune.

The "neat sound" is totally out of keeping with the entirely banal reasons. I made some bannock the other day, an extra large batch to use up the flour. There was one piece left; I told my son he could have it for breakfast next day. He didn't. It sat in the fridge tempting me. It was in my mind when I read the posts.

I warned you... From such inconsequentialities do neat sounds arise.

After much debate, we named our band after a jig in O'Neills: "Rum & Onions". We play it with another one called "Buttermilk and Praties" and intro it as "The Sailor's Breakfast Set".

There are lots of great tune names. Some we didn't use: Upstairs in a Tent Wallop the Potlid Plaid Cousins Banshee's Cry

As a matter of interest, I thought I was the only perosn in the world who liked "Clishmaclaver". It's what I named my art studio.
