Subject: Minuet in G (!) From: Ebbie Date: 15 Oct 00 - 01:13 AM If we can digress just for a moment from folk/blues/rock to this side: Does anyone know if Minuet in G by Bach and Minuet in G by Paderewski are the same composition? I haven't found the sheet music on the 'Net to compare. I remember when Lovers Concerto first came out, back in the 60's, I think. I never heard the piece by Paderewski until the 80's and I don't remember any resemblance to the earlier one. But it was lovely. Thank you in advance. Ebbie |

Subject: RE: Help: Minuet in G From: Metchosin Date: 15 Oct 00 - 02:18 AM Ebbie they are not the same composition. Paderewski's, a more staccotto piece, is Minuet in G Major while Bach's is Minuet in G or more commonly, as you noted, the Lovers Concerto or to some How Gentle is the Rain. I agree, both are lovely. |

Subject: RE: Help: Minuet in G From: Mary in Kentucky Date: 15 Oct 00 - 11:26 AM I found the Bach Minuet in G here. at the Classical Midi Connection in the Anna Magdalena notebook, number 3. I found the Paderewski Minuet in G as background music here. (I think this is it...midi problems today.) |

Subject: RE: Help: Minuet in G From: Scotsbard Date: 16 Oct 00 - 12:06 PM Kewl link, Mary in Kentucky! Just for fun, try weaving the first two G-Maj menuets together. Several years ago, a chamber group I sang with did both menuets separately on Kazoos, and then did them both at the same time ... The hardest part was to keep a straight face long enough to finish the piece without laughing. ~S~ |
