Subject: RE: baby the rain must fall From: paddymac Date: 16 Oct 00 - 05:10 PM Guest - If this is the first time you have posted a query, it would be helpful if you could provide a simple statement as to what you are seeking. I recall the song you mention, but it apparently is not in the database. Phrase your question more fully and maybe some one can help you. |

Subject: Lyr Add: BABY THE RAIN MUST FALL From: Áine Date: 16 Oct 00 - 05:33 PM Written by: Ernie Sheldon (AKA Ernie Lieberman) Performed by: Glenn Yarbrough BABY THE RAIN MUST FALL Some men climb the mountains Some men swim the seas Some men fly above the sky They are what they must be. CHORUS: Baby the rain must fall Baby the wind must blow Wherever my heart leads me Baby I must go Baby I must go. I do not love for silver I do not love for gold My heart is mine to give away It never will be sold. CHORUS |
Subject: RE: baby the rain must fall From: Frankham Date: 17 Oct 00 - 10:56 AM Glen Yarborough sung it and made a hit out of it. It was composed by Ernie Sheldon (AKA Ernie Lieberman) who resides in California. Glen didn't like to sing it after it became a hit. Frank |
Subject: RE: baby the rain must fall From: LR Mole Date: 17 Oct 00 - 12:02 PM It was used, I think, as the theme song to a Steve McQueen movie of the same name. |

Subject: RE: baby the rain must fall From: voyager Date: 07 Mar 06 - 03:52 PM Not sure if Mr. Sheldon got proper film credits for this songtrack. Saw the 1964 film last week & Elmer Bernstein was credited with the score. What 'rocked my socks' was watching STEVE McQUEEN lip-synching "Rockabilly" lyrics to a dewy-eyed Lee Remick character. The mis-timing of the voice-over to the acting were worth the price of admission. Steve obviously made a good career move when he stopped imitating singers & flushed out his action-packed, brooding loner, leading man screen persona. voyager |
Subject: RE: baby the rain must fall From: JJ Date: 08 Mar 06 - 08:46 AM I was dumbfounded when years later I realized that the movie was based on Horton Foote's play, THE TRAVELING LADY, which is currently being revived in New York. Not one review I've read mentions BABY, THE RAIN MUST FALL. |
