Susan,

'anorak' - (noun, eym.dub, slang): A derogatory word used to describe people who relate better to bits and bytes than to people. An English term coined when such folk would be seen at sci-fi conventions, railway meets and other such gatherings of pustulent, post-pubescent single white males. Thus called because for years they were the only people who wore anoraks (the nylon, hooded jackets that have recently become fashionable again - so the real anoraks have given up wearing them in favour of Army surplus gear).
Akin to trainspotters, nerds, Trekkies, dweebs and other social misfits ;-)

It's a term that could never be applied to any 'Catter, of course!

I think [Ehoops!] is actually a word. Never mind the E and the W are next door neighbors, I like it, Ehoops! The H would be nearly silent, but barely gasped. The rest are obiviously yptos, but Ehoops! I can actually hear him saying that one.

Maybe qhat, also. Considering the context and all.

And Gervase, thanks. It had not computed at all, makes perfect sense now!

We came up with a funny game last night, and I think it applies to Macs and PCs. Or could. We were watching the old Andy Griffith Show (You over-ponder-yonders won't get this one.) Anyway it was actress Susan Oliver's fault. She was luring our Ange into an illict kiss while she was a prisoner in a cell. The camera angle, well, it gave me an old Star Trek flashback. So I sez, honey, wouldn't it be great to have William Shatner play Andy??? Later we thought Mr. T could be great for June Cleaver-- "You make yo damn bed, Beave???"

Just that one little change, and leave the rest of the show as is? (You can think of more of these I am sure. Start a new thread though, OK?)

So Mac and PC, is like the characters and plots and dialog might be the same but there is a subtle difference underneath them that makes it all different.

Just one question, they can send a man to the moon but they can't make him spell. (When my workhorse arrives I hope she will drink, and water only, not vile black stuff.) So Amos? What's a coma-parable again? Oh, and now I get it about those aliases you were talking about when you got your new system!!! Those weren't multiple Mudcat names you meant! It's a normal Mac word!! Sorry! Ehoops!

~S~

Alice!!! I needed that!!! There are no acceptable words that describe the noises issuing forth from my neck! All consonants!!!

MacMudcat!

MudMacCat!

MacCat!

I am told it will be shipped today. I have doubts-- it may be too heavy for UPS. I know it's packed and ready though, champing at the bit. And she'll be coming 'round the mountain you know, when she comes. Sometimes that adds a day to transit. She's a coming though!

~Susan
